    Rejection of AI story cover

To each their own. I find AI art to be soulless and value my writing too much to ever make AI the public face of it.

Finding a better idea once writing is ready nearly done.

I’ve never had an idea that I’ve scrapped an almost completed chapter for, but I’ve certainly had plenty of times where I had no idea what the through-line of a chapter was going to be until I was well into it. The last time that happened, I made it all the way to editing.

Have you ever thought, “What if my story never gets popular?”

I wrote for a couple of years without any idea if anyone was actually reading my story because I enjoyed writing it. Did I dream of popularity and success? Sure, but I wrote for the sheer thrill of it. Tell your story because you believe it's worth telling, and the readers will come. (That...

    Rejection of AI story cover

I went without art of any kind until my story was generating its own income stream, which took a few years. Authors who think they need art now for their stories to succeed suggest a strong lack of faith in their own writing.

Have you ever thought, “What if my story never gets popular?”

That works for about ten years, and then they don't want anything to do with you.

I'll read a couple chapters of your story and give feedback best I can [No Submissions Temporarily (I need to catch up on everyone)]

That's a lot further than I thought you'd read. I think you're the first person to say the dad is their favorite, lol. No occult stuff, although the legend continues to play a role.

I'll read a couple chapters of your story and give feedback best I can [No Submissions Temporarily (I need to catch up on everyone)]

Thanks! How far did you read if I may ask? Also, as the synopsis hints, there's a bit more to this particular wolf. :)

Writing Have you ever experienced a plot hole involving inconsistent character descriptions?

I completely forgot I had already named one of my character’s teachers in an early chapter and then used a completely different name later. I just went back and gave her the new name.

Low attention span reviews and ratings [Closed]

Thanks, this is exactly the sort of feedback I was looking for. To be perfectly honest, I've developed a dedicated readership and am not really lacking in feedback. The only problem is that feedback is from people who are already hooked, and I have precious little for why people may have dropped...

Low attention span reviews and ratings [Closed]

My story was originally written for and posted in a rather isolated and self-selected subculture, and it's done well there. However, since posting it on AO3, it's attracted readers who wouldn't otherwise be interested in the subculture. So, I'm experimenting and exposing it to a larger audience...

Low attention span reviews and ratings [Closed]

For me, feedback from outside my typical readership base is exactly what I'm looking for. People who are primed to read your story are more likely to gloss over issues, especially in the early chapters.

Do you include images or nah?

Yes, a lot of my Subscribe Star income goes towards commissioning art for my story. A lot of it I can't post in Scribble Hub, alas.

    I got problems with followers.

Scribble Hub has actually been relatively quiet in terms of scammers compared to other places I've posted. Deviant Art is completely overrun by them. It likely doesn't help that I actually do commission art for my story (from artists I seek out).

Authors, Do you plan your stories?

Sort of. I figure out what the end goal is for the story, determine what the overarching theme is, and then think of what needs to happen to get from here to there. However, it all tends to be very broad strokes, and I'm constantly gaming out ideas as I write.

What's your ultimate 'dream' for your story?

I'll settle for completing the entire series and following Sophia through her slow transformation into a wolf (willing and no mind death). But I wouldn't say no to fame and fortune.

I stopped using ChatGPT and the likes for things such as writing ideas and whatnot

With AI, we're going to have to refine Sturgeon's Law to "99.9% of everything is crap."

    Word count

A chapter should be exactly as long as it needs to be. If it needs to be 500 words, make it 500 words. If it needs to be 10,000 words, it should be 10,000 words. Personally, I tend to shoot for between 2500-3500, but will go outside of that range if necessary.
