  • Is time relative in a dream?

You might dream your whole life of being a certain character, but that only happens for one night. The difference between dream time and real time is relative.

I had a dream in which I lived my whole life as a female angel whose wings were attached on the front instead of the back, and time passed just as it would when i'm awake. I didn't suspect it was a dream until I woke up again the next day.

Time is an artificial construct. An arbitrary system based on the idea that events occur in a linear direction at all times. Always forward, never back. Is the concept of time correct? Is time relevant?

Well, I won't discuss the concept of the relativity of time based on Einstein's theory.

The emphasis on relative time in dreams is more about the dreamer's subjectivity, where their dream 'experience' can feel like a lifetime ago.

However, the brain may simply be providing meaningful and memorable information during the dream. So, time feels relative, and it can vary depending on the dreamer.
Reynard raised his sword. He remembered his promise: failed to protect his wife.

    “Goodbye!”

    "NO!" Detective Clara screamed.

    "CRACK—"

    Reynard opened his eyes.

Safira had wrapped his arm in dense white mist.

"Live, my love!" she floated closer, pressing her misty forehead against Reynard's. "Thank you for being part of my life."

Tears scattered. Reynard could no longer contain his grief and loss.

Often, what makes a memorable fiction is not a satisfying ending, an epic battle, or a plot twist, but rather that the story leaves wounds and questions that linger in the hearts of its readers because it resonates with the real world.

Ah, Your Lie in April… that show shaped how I write romance (and angst). I must’ve cried until I couldn’t breathe from at least three scenes ?

You know how they liked to talk in symbolisms? I love doing that now in my romance ✌️I even got inspired by Kousei’s comparison of his monotone world to the keyboard of a piano.

Don't forget to breathe. The freezing air might make you forget to breathe.
    Pandora's box...
    Don't open it!
    The box is opened,
    And they regret it forever.

    Don't eat it!
    The red apple is eaten,
    And they fall.

    Don't look back!
    She looks back,
    Left behind,
    And perishes.

No matter what era or mythology,
    Humans repeat the same mistakes.

    Pandora's box...
    When prohibition sparks curiosity,
    And leads to disaster!
Which is better: sacrificing yourself for the world—for strangers who don't even know you and won't remember you—or betraying the world to ensure someone whom you love keeps breathing?

The Author narrates it, the author makes the readers feel it, and the author lets the readers decide for themselves. Fiction offers no simple answers, only moral gray areas.

Jokes aside, wouldn’t be that simple. It wasn’t a cult-like mindset.

They were ruthlessly efficient. To escape the prison, after they traded their humanity to become a demon and broke their chains.

They convinced the people there to revolt, and used them as pawns to be slaughtered. While they took the path to escape.

But before that, they had to fight an old friend.

Later on, they blew up a place to create the necessary panics to execute the head at a stronghold.

Another one, they used the dangerous animals of the land to break in. Created a massive panic, and led to quite a massacre.

    This is attacking another stronghold.
Over 100+ chapters have been written. 22 chapters have been rewritten. Less than 8-10 chapters left until the epilogue of volume 2. Start the countdown! I hope to finish volume 2 before the new year.

    D: You're evil!
(<--- killed some beloved characters in her story but that's not important)
I feel the same though. I love writing grim, dark stories with angsty endings, but I for some reason am a big softie when reading other people's stories. I want my happy endings ?

I'm not evil... I'm realistic. In fact, happy endings don't make narrative sense, especially in a dark world. Imagine the real world... wars rarely end happily. Everyone suffers, even society not involved in the war. A tragic ending feels humane and realistic. :blob_evil_two:

Still battling creative fatigue... today I couldn't even finish writing 1500 words for a chapter.

Thanks for the advice. I'm feeling better. Maybe I was too ambitious in trying to finish volume 2 right away, which drained my creative energy. I just really need a break.

You know what the scariest creature is? Not ghosts, not monsters, not gods, but your mother. If she's angry, even a transcendent protagonist will hide under the bed.
The trees were so tall. The sun was covered by the leaves. But I could see between the leaves. Mr Sun was still peeking at me and following me.

Maybe Mr Sun is feeling shy. Mr Sun can follow me. Caelan doesn’t mind.

I looked behind us. My chin was on Mommy’s shoulder.

“Mommy… the forest is dark. Mr Sun can’t peek at Caelan anymore,” I said, pointing up. - vol 1 ch 24: Adventure of little Caelan with Mommy.
I read about child development psychology and realized... most child POVs in mainstream fiction are simply naive adult POVs disguised as children.

For example, children tend not to think in abstract concepts. They prefer concrete, sensory examples. They care more about delicious food than world peace.
I read my old fiction... and realized how bad my narrative was, so I had to rewrite it. On the one hand, that could be a good sign, as my narrative skills would be improving (otherwise I wouldn't feel so bad about my old fiction). On the other hand, it adds to the work of writing fiction. It's exhausting, but it's also rewarding to see the narrative improve.

If only I have the motivation to rewrite my old fanfiction. The premise is pretty fire, not gonna lie. The writing was… well, you can tell it was written with passion from a young teenager. But also, the OG creator of the source material got outed to be a creep, so we don’t wanna support that. ✋

One class that doesn't get much attention (not that it doesn't exist; I've seen Legolas and Robinhood, too) in mainstream fantasy fiction is the archer.

Imagine killing an enemy from miles away, then retreating when approached (hit and run). Imagine an archer's magical attacks being equivalent to a railgun or a supersonic missile. And they're the most agile.
    Eldoria
    Eldoria
Bosses like this would be tough to defeat. That's why I make an archer as the mid-boss in my fiction. Because of their incredible potential. The archer villain in my fiction can even fight multiple classes in a short time without taking serious damage, even though she's not a veteran fighter—she relies solely on precision, mobility, stealth, and tactics, rather than pure, high-damage power.

I love archers and archery in general~

    Disaster is Just A Consequence

    Disaster doesn't argue with you
Disaster doesn't come knocking at your door
    Disaster is just a consequence

What is denied is what happens
What is feared is what destroys
Whoever sins, all may suffer the consequences
How do humans deal with living disasters?

Imagine a typhoon, an earthquake, a pyroclastic flow, or any other disaster, but they have consciousness, and we (humans) fight (or survive) against them. That's what I want to write as the final climax of the arc of vol 2 in my fiction. An ending that is epic, tragic, and humane.
