People like to talk about how nudity can be artistic and isn't inherently sexual, and while I do agree, these people often point to Greco-Roman nudes as if they weren't jorking it to Aphrodite back in the day
When I first heard of "the fear of being perceived" and its variations, I thought it was some dumb bullshit tumblr pop psych neologism, but then I realized I'd been living with it my whole life. Nothing really is more cringe than the self
Me and my extended mom-side family had an overnight layover in Bangkok a few years ago, and when the hotel reception told us that no 10 people weren't allowed to stay in 2 rooms, we were all shocked as hell. In that moment that I still look back on I learnt what it meant to be a third world Southeast Asian tourist, except Thailand is also a third world Southeast Asian country
I was reading a book and one of the scenes was so eerily similar to something I had written. Down to the setting, the pacing kinda, the story beats, down to the tone of the narration. Freaked me out
Sometimes when I'm hungry, I'd have a little voice pop up in my head saying precisely "I be hungry as shit ngl". It just pops up without my consent. Maybe I'm one of the last people still with a bicameral mind
I understand this is performative non-fiction knowledge acquisition slop for people who dream about their LinkedIn karma or whatever, but the title's so funny to me
"5 books that will teach you more than any degree" as if college degrees don't have you reading a bunch of shit anyway
Anyone else had weird, one-sided beef with an older person when they were a kid?
One of my friends had an older cousin who just hated me for some reason. A 20-something year old beefing with an 11 year old. I had no idea what their problem was
They got in a motorcycle accident some time later and I was ecstatic
I feel like at this point we should've figured out how to make books free. You're telling me that we've had books for how many thousands of years and yet we still gotta pay for them? Sounds like a scam to me.
Sometimes the motorcycle taxis here will take on-the-spot, off-app orders in busy places. For the passenger, it's convenient. For the rider, they get to keep the whole fare because it's off the books.
Why then do they charge way more than the app fare in these situations? Bro you're already getting the whole thing. Why such an upcharge?
