[Ask a woman] New Age version

What about giving birth without fertilisation (parthenogenesis)? This isn't a joke... the figure of a sacred woman does exist (at least in religion). Or even fish or lizards possess the ability of parthenogenesis. Imagine a virgin mother having a child. It seems contradictory, but that's the...

Often, what makes a memorable fiction is not a satisfying ending, an epic battle, or a plot twist, but rather that the story leaves wounds and questions that linger in the hearts of its readers because it resonates with the real world.

Recommendations Can you recommend one fiction title that sticks out in your mind after reading it many years ago?

I've read hundreds of fictions from various genres, from SoL, romcom, isekai, wholesome fantasy, shounen, seinen, shoujo, josei, to dark and bloody ones like gore and dark fantasy. But only a few remain in my memory. Some I remember the title. Some I remember the character names. Some I...

How do you gain readers for your fiction when you’re new?

Remember your purpose in writing! Some people chase numbers and popularity. Others chase monetisation. Others share experiences and hopes. Still others pursue meaning. Every author has goals that may be similar or different. However, they remain committed to writing if they want to remain authors.

How do you gain readers for your fiction when you’re new?

Honest answer: Just write it and don't chase engagement too much - those who are interested will read, those who don't will stay away. Commercial answer: Do a structured and massive promotion: Use the cover as an attention grabber (usually an anime cover with an elegant heroine figure). Write...

Prologue chapters, how important are they?

For some, a prologue isn't important. But for me (a niche author), a prologue is crucial and serves as the premise of the arc. Without reading the prologue, readers won't understand the main problem/issue that will be discussed throughout the arc (I define arcs as volumes, with 1 arc = 1...

Would you keep reading past Chapter 1? Why or why not?

It's not about how thick your pages are, but how much your narrative is sufficient to convey a story worth reading... at least, according to at least one arc. It's unfair to judge a new fiction after 1-2 chapters or a dozen chapters and then write a review. Readers need a vivid narrative. A few...

Writing How does a moral antagonist (3D) end up as a dark mirror of the protagonist?

I agree with this. The revival of Konoha's population negates Pain's tragedy. However, Naruto was written as an inspirational story and a story of hope for teenagers, especially boys (shounen). I understand why the author chose Pain's ending, even if I'm not satisfied.

Writing How does a moral antagonist (3D) end up as a dark mirror of the protagonist?

Worth Ending for the Moral Antagonist as the Dark Mirror of the Protagonist One-dimensional antagonists are shallow characters, usually evil for evil's sake. For some authors, a 1D antagonist can be well-written, especially when the antagonist falls or loses, the blow feels satisfying...

    Let's identify a scammer!

Spammers clichely praise your writing blankly and include links. Spammers are kind of smart, read a few paragraphs of your chapter before complimenting you. You reply, then they send you a link. I prefer my chapter's comments column to be quiet.

Would you keep reading past Chapter 1? Why or why not?

No, the chapter is too short, and doesn't provide a hook. Write more chapters before asking for feedback again.
