I think swears would be character driven. Also, I find most author-coined neologisms take me out of immersion as a reader.

The more you expose the mechanics of the system, the more you're going to have to make them interesting. Interesting to the reader. This means the mechanics do not need to be carefully worked out and presented. All you have to do is make sure you don't contradict yourself or pull plot armor out...

Per pixar, we’re interested in when a character strives and sweats towards things. Your overpowered skill character isn't going to hit as interesting as some poor bastard who has to take out the dark lord with a folding chair.
