Cool ideas you'll probably never use?

I was thinking about an idea for a book I had a few years ago, back when I was an online grocery worker for Walmart. What if there were a supermarket so massive that it became a dungeon? It would go miles deep underground, and the deeper you went the more dangerous the monsters became--but also...

One month in! How am I doing?

Probably because I purchased an ad on RR.

Difference in image sizes between browser and mobile sites?

Just something weird I've noticed. If I'm using the forums from my computer, it never has any trouble when I want to post a picture or a gif. But if I do it from my phone on the mobile site, roughly half the images and pretty much all of the gifs I try to post get blocked for being too big. Is...

If I knew that, I'd be able to judge it for myself instead of asking the forum.

One month in! How am I doing?

I posted XNPC (almost) exactly one month ago. Here's what my stats look like so far. Considering that this is the debut novel from an unknown author, on a scale of 1 to 10, how am I doing? Chapters: 20 (plus two interludes for stats) Pages: 205 Scribble Hub: Total views: 910 Average views: 40...

    Faruq’s Mental Support Chamber

Doc, do you have any idea how hard it is to be in love with your own lips in this day and age? If my lips ever left my mouth, packed a bag, and headed south, that would be too bad. I'd be so sad. If my lips said "Adios! I don't like you, I think you're gross!", that'd be too bad. I might get...

What's the most attractive part of the human body?

Head, shoulders, knees, and toes. Those really make the wheels on MY bus go round and round.

Who are some of your most memorable villains? (And why?)

So far, XNPC doesn't have any outright villains. The closest thing they have are three guys from a rival guild who are hunting the main characters. But they're not doing it out of malice, they're doing it because the MCs poached a dungeon from their guild's territory, which permanently robbed...

    A Sensible Thread

Jeremy: sensible, logical, always tries to think things through. An absolute fish out of water in a world where you have to fight monsters to stay sentient. Miranda: reckless, adrenaline junkie, constantly pulling more and more dangerous stunts in an effort to distract herself from a hundred...

Wisdom of the forum, answer my plea, what does a goth-girl produce on a farm?

Chocolate milk. It's like you took preppy white conformist milk and dressed it in the edgy black nonconformist clothes that every goth wears.

    Copyrights: what can't I say?

I've never really understood where the line gets drawn when it comes to copyrights. Sometimes it seems like even acknowledging another franchise exists is enough to get the pants sued off of you, other times its like you can rip off names, character designs, and even entire plots, and the owners...

How do you write an engaging main character that makes you want to read the rest of his story?

Who would've thought giving the readers what they want would result in a story they'd want to read?

How do you write an engaging main character that makes you want to read the rest of his story?

Find the balance between wish fulfillment and...whatever the opposite of wish fulfillment is so that your readers can have some instant gratification while also leaving something for them to stick around for long term.
