Is this a coincidence? I read two fictions in the feedback section... and found a weakness in the narrative structure related to characterization.

Some characters were difficult to distinguish without name tags. They lacked identity, personality, and unique voices.

They were more like plot devices than living characters.

Maybe I should make a thread about characterization next time.

Is an author here who has completed a series (prequel), then made a sequel series with the author as a transmigrator (MC) in the prequel series?

In traditional fiction, the narrator plays a dominant role in driving the story, often adopting a fireside storytelling approach where the narrator acts as the storyteller.

Problems arise when this practice is carried over into creative writing, as the reader can't interact directly with the narrator, unlike when their parents told them bedtime stories. It creates a cold narrative distance between reader and story.

The basic level of reader is the 'listener'. They understand fiction through the explanations of the narrator. For example, children learn stories through bedtime stories.

The advanced level is the 'interpreter'. They actively interpret the narrative, constructing an imaginative world, feeling the characters' emotions, and capturing the hidden messages within a story. They are readers who live within the story.

It needs to evaluate POV based on its characteristics.

In a first POV, information should be framed according to the subjective experience of the "I" character.

In an objective third POV, information should be framed according to the narrative of a cinematic scene.

By understanding the characteristics of the POV, it will be more objective in assessing the quality of the narrative.

I just read a review of Warhammer 40000... the fiction is too dark. Probably a 10/10 level of darkness. It's not just grimdark, it's pure dystopia. There's no hope, no good, just destruction, darkness, and endless war. I don't understand why people like it.

One indicator of successful characterization is when readers can recognize who the speaking character is based on their unique voice.

It might seem easy if there are only 1-3 characters. But what if there are 7 characters speaking in a single chapter?

It's very possible for readers to get confused, even with the help of name tags.
