A good story makes me go "Oh, I'm not as disturbed as I thought i was..." Then I feel better about my life choices.
I believe every story has a market, (potential) audiences, and genres, even if the premise is cliché. What makes a story good or bad isn't the story itself, but the execution.
There is no such thing as a bad story.
