One reason is because you're writing a novel, not a film script. A novel's narrative ideally balances action, dialogue, and description. Too much dialogue can make your script more like a film script. Furthermore, excessive dialogue can easily lead to exposition (telling), while a narrative becomes more immersive if it emphasizes subtext (showing), which typically combines action, dialogue, and atmosphere.
