You’d be amazed at how anything “pure” in cultivation (not the Chinese kind) comes with a hefty price tag while natural purity itself is almost nonexistent. The definition of purity is also a bit wobbly, since nature adapts and evolves over time, even without human input.

Cross-pollination isn’t that fancy. It just means bringing two compatible, closely related plants together and letting nature do its thing. I doubt the lemon was even human made. It was likely hybridised by nature itself.
