It’s your fault you’re making me nerd out on this topic. You’d be amazed at how anything “pure” in cultivation (not the Chinese kind) comes with a hefty price tag while natural purity itself is almost nonexistent. The definition of purity is also a bit wobbly, since nature adapts and evolves over time, even without human input.

I do. I mean its normal when 21st century human doing cross-pollination.
But apparently they made lemon like 2000 years ago?
I simply thought those fancy horticulture methods only started the past few centuries

Cross-pollination isn’t that fancy. It just means bringing two compatible, closely related plants together and letting nature do its thing. I doubt the lemon was even human made. It was likely hybridised by nature itself.
