There's this thing called fairy tail. Very mid.
Anyway it had a timeskip which resulted in one of the loser side characters holding his own in a fight against the main character.

This obviously seems like setting the side character up to become someone of importance and become stronger outside of blocking a few attacks but no. This is basically his one relevant moment. What was even the point of that fight?

Actual controversial opinion #1:
The only proof that Yasuke was a samurai is his master's good treatment of him. I'm personally more on the side that he was but we know almost nothing about Yasuke so it's foolish to claim he definitely was a samurai when there's a lack of historical evidence.
If you want to praise a minority samurai, praise William Adams who we know a lot more about.

The problem with harems is that most who write them are lazy.
Harems can be used to highlight a particular trait in a character whether that be envy, pride, lust or immaturity.
They can also be used to advance the plot like two rival factions waging war to gain favor with whoever they adore.
Most harems however are just I see waifu I take waifu. There's no purpose outside of collecting waifus for the sake of it.

The main decepticons are way more fun to observe than the autobots, since they have different agendas (besides Soundwave. Literally just evil Bumblebee. What a loser.) and therefore feel like different parts of the story altogether.
