Recent philosophers may be more controversial so maybe not. Plato was based though.

@Paul_Tromba Plato was kind of based. He also rambled about forms. His student, Aristotle on the other hand super based.

The stuff is interesting, but it's a bit... "of its time" I feel.

While true in some aspects I think many criticisms raised by philosophers remain valid no matter the time period.

Yes, I suppose i mean it in a way that Plato era stuff, is like the ideas you build on top of. Kinda like you have to water it down with some structuralism so that it applicable to modern times, but not too much coz too much structuralism is broken.

That is certainly true when considering current democracies work in a very different way compared to how they were in Plato's time. Adding structure is also a nice way to put it when combating Draco's legislative philosophy.

Sorry, I mean structuralism as in the philosophic movement rather that actual structure, I.e Plato dis like of democracy could be seen as not that democracy is broken, rather the existence of the uneducated and unskilled having a say. That's why he like philo-kings. Structuralism is about the underlying meaning of thoughts.

Makes sense, though that particular criticism is still true today. Most people vote because they're loyal to a party or hate a certain candidate, and can be easily manipulated.
