So... I'm writing a story and the MC, named River, is a socially stunted once-extrovert now-introvert by way of depression. Her mom didn't really let her do any "normal" teen activities.

River's got a friend/is the adopted sibling of her friend, Riley. who feels as if her father and extended family have locked her into the expectations of being a juvenile, immature child. You know, pretty normal thoughts.

So, River wants to give Riley a fun outing between two equals.

Unfortunately, River is based on me, so I, and by extension, her, can't come up with anything other than going to the library, to the theater, or on a walk in the park (which aren't necessarily bad, but... come on. There have to be better, more novel experiences). Are there any quote-unquote "teenager activities" (or just fun activities in general) that would be good?

Or are you all too socially stunted to come up with anything too?

hang out at a parking lot, mall (going window viewing or shopping), going to the pool, going to the beach, grab a bite, play videogames, do an activity that requires cooperation like assembling furniture or a puzzle, crack a cold one on the porch, listen to favorite bands, smoke weed, etc.

All of these activities promote conversation, and even if you're socially stunted you have the capacity for speech and the cognitive capacity to keep a conversation going. Lengthy talks happen during these activities and help get to know people, which is what socially reclusive individuals miss out on and keep them stunted. Socialization is crucial for proper social function and development of values, understanding of norms, feel empathy for others, and ultimately lead to the realization that the individual is not alone in the world.

Are the cliche options good? Like karaoke, beach, shopping, pool, sauna? There's also a couple short activities you can add to an outing, such as photo booths, ice cream or other snacks, arcade games.

Other than that, I think going to eat and/or drink is by far the most popular activity. An important thing to note, however, is that going out to eat is more like the background for what's currently going on, so things like school, trips, or the group's interests like sports, games, or whatever. If it's just a pair of people, I'd do an outing composed of multiple activities, like doing some shopping, playing around, then eating, and weave personal issues and relationships into those, like talking over food or having a emotional moment in a changing room.

How to relax if you are a Russian teenager? You go to the garage complex and jump on the roofs of garages. You can make a homemade pistol out of a steel tube and go stoot beer bottles. You also can just hang out in the streets, walking for hours.

There wasn't much to do in my area for reference but I was really into Ragnarok during middle school, so that checks out.
Other than that it was basketball, table tennis, going to the beach or the woods, hanging out at parks, watch and join town events / festivals, fcking around and getting scared for any unintended blessings, basketball again.
These are the usual teenage activities in semi-rural areas.

The cliches are great! I couldn't even come up with the cliches! :blob_teary:
They can explore the woods.
I like to have and always had informative with from over some drinks.
Go watch a movie together, sneak some food inside. Or robbing a bank. One of the two.

my area has a year round activity center that changes the activities based on season and weather. Spring/summer they offer mini golf, go karts, and a wooden maze (you collect 4 stamps and make it to the end, and the specifics of the maze change weekly as they move the walls and goals). In autumn, they have a straw maze, go karts, face painting, and paintball. In winter, they offer sled pulls (ATV) around the go kart track, hill sledding, and snowball fights.

Depending on age and knowledge, they could go for a hike in a national park, do some fishing, etc. Some shooting ranges in my area allow teens to shoot (chaperoned). If no chaperone is available, one can be "rented" from the range. Many also offer a selection of firearms that can be rented. Archery ranges are popular in my area (nearly everyone except transplants shoots archery just as a hobby).

all of these suggestions are common in my area with nearly everyone, teens included.

Something I did with my friends often in middle school and high school was going to PC cafes, as an introvert with decent gaming skills, I made lots of friends by just carrying them in League, which then evolved into them inviting me to hang out more. Things I remembered most are sports like Football, basketball, and billiard, or to small cafes where we just bought the cheapest sugary drink and yapped about most random things (one of them evolved into making 3 other people agree to develop a video game despite none of us knowing anything about coding let alone game developing, which later made me choose CS as my major,) or just walked around until we got tired and sat at a park, it is more common in my country, but sometimes went to a forest or any grassy place and grilled. I also introduced many of them to TTRPGs, which even people with little to no interest in the fantasy genre had great fun with since it was a social activity where even if they didn't understand the mechanics still joke and chat with their friends.

Normal teener activities:

1. Hanging out/playing games at home/some place they love to go.
2. Going out and walking around the neighborhood.
3. Playing some sports/board games.
4. Buying some cheap food and eating together in some park.
5. Chatting about their daily lives/reminiscing fun memories.

Normal teener activities (dark side version)

1. Learning some new 'vice'/bad habits.
2. Watching po--
3. Trolling/annoying people coz it's kewl.

Based it on my observations/casual talks with my students, with an age range from 13-17.

SLEEPOVER!!! Do hair and nails and makeup. Make togas from sheets. Truth or dare. Lots of junk food.

Do sleepover stuff during the daytime if the parents are too strict to let them actually do a sleepover.
