All right, serious time:

I'll grant you that he never explicitly said that people with AI covers should be banned. To be honest, I've seen this braindead argument happen soooo many freaking times, and "mods, please ban" is almost always where they end up going if they're left unchallenged. I fully believe it's where his thread would have eventually gone if he'd actually gotten the response he wanted instead of being called out on his entitled attitude. But to your point, I'll admit that he never explicitly said those exact words in that exact order.

Now answer me this: what other outcome could he have possibly hoped for from that thread? He was very clearly trying to get an emotional response by repeatedly saying things like "They're trying to replace us! ALL OF US!" Did he actually think that the people using AI covers were going to stop just because he told them to? Of course not. So the only other thing he could have been trying to accomplish was to find people who agreed with him, whip them into a frenzy, and then...what happens next? At best, people start petioning the mods to ban AI artwork. At worst, a site-wide witch hunt begins, with anyone who is even suspected to have used some form of AI getting mass reported and review bombed.

Could it be that he just wanted to vent his frustrations on the forums? I doubt it, given the reactions we've seen from him. From the very start, disagreements with his opinions were met with accusations and mockery. This is not someone who just wants to share his opinion. He fully expects you to accept and adopt his opinion, or else you are someone worthy of his open and undisguised contempt.

Are you following me here? Even if we concede that he never said "ban AI covers" in those exact words, his blatant attempts at emotional manipulation still don't leave him in a very sympathetic light. And given that there are very few places his discussions could escalate to besides "ban all AI", we can infer that that was his end goal without him actually having to say the words.

Bottom line is, he deliberately stirred up a witch hunt against AI. That witch hunt ended up targeting him. Suddenly, calling people out on using AI isn't okay anymore. Hence my original point here: he's a hypocrite.

Now if you'll excuse me, I've been awake for nearly twenty four hours, so I'm going to bed and won't be responding for a while.

is my memory faulty. It well could be.
I remember this sequence of events:

1) OtherSlater goes on a Dennis Miller rant
2) "Artists need paid!" blah blah. All AI covers need banned, or you should be ashamed! Pay us!
3) I was amused. Hey, I amuse easily. Sue me.
4) I click my ruby slippers three times.
5) OtherSlater again. "Hey! I'm a writer now! I can do this, I'm an author now!"
6) I *wanna* remember, that at first, Slater said "AI helped, but just a little"
7) then, someone said "ha! the kettle is calling the pot black! how ironic is that!"
8) in a *poof* of smoke, like magic slater is "never using AI, and never did".
9) my memory is suspect, but going back through the posts, would see how good my memory is.

what's the moral of this story.

You just taught them, to never say it (and not splash AI AI AI all over their bio)

I'm not sure what's been accomplished.
was the witch hunt fun? *hell* yeah.
ain't nothing more fun than all getting together, lighting the torches, sharpening the pitchforks.
its a group activity, like a block party.
but at the end of the day, what's been accomplished.
writers getting "helped" will just know not to say it.

If you have to lie about me to make a point, what’s the point. I can quote the countless times where I clarified I never demanded anyone to do anything, I’m college educated and proud of my written work and never used AI. But your mind is made up, no? You’re all dishonest and it’s pathetic. I’m the big fat meanie, whatever.

My memory must be faulty too because I don’t remember either of these I don’t even think OtherSlater is an artist (in the drawing sense), so they never said “pay us”. Unless… Do you have quotes?
