The biggest reason we don't get hit with massive DMCA filings is because the fanfiction ecosystem is a publicity cash cow cult for the corporations that own the IPs. The second biggest is that it's a small money pot in corporate power terms. But once big enough and lucrative enough, or someone at Disney has a bad day, the corpos can fire down on multiple targets for damages. SH can be sued for damages if a some corporation thinks their pot is being siphoned or their reputation being dmaged by smut Jedi tentacle warriors having orgies.

My biggest fear in the fan fiction debate is more of a long term vision. I'm afraid corporate intelectual property concepts are going to bleed into concepts, terms, ideas, and genres. For example, not being able to have light sabers in original space opera, not being able to use certain alien races and settings, the shape of space ships, not being able to use creature concepts because corpos mass produce a trademark library of them, etc. Thus further limiting what original writers can produce via cultural ownership and cross referencing. But that goes far beyond the debate about what SH needs to do protect itself from legal liability now.

One of the reason I don't like fanfiction is that it feeds the beast in the paragraph above, because anything new or original authors produce in IP worlds becomes potential IP property for the corporate properties as well.
I like your funny words magic bull, but you are wrong. Nintendo for example will sue for whatever, not just for something small. Moreover, there was already a precedent of StarCraft fanfic being deleted from the face of the earth. It wasn't bigger than current fanfics on SH, but it was deleted from RR, SH, and everywhere else, along with author accounts on both sites.

True, I do have the fears that one day, original stories we be assblasted3000 off the face of the earth for even daring to use their own original version of light sabers for their original space opera fiction.

I'm agreeing with you. I just think the extent that fan works have been allowed to even exist with some degree of leniency on sites like these and youtube is to the extent it can benefit the IP ecosystem through free publicity and expansion of the property domain. They can and will shut them down at will, whenever they feel like it, especially if money is moving to a private party or other entity not the IP owners.

It's the cultural version of serfdom.

I honestly don't care. All I care about is wild feeling of vindication I feel. All the cretins who dismissed all my takes, all the halfwits that thought they are so smart and argued definition of the words, in the end they were wrong. They were wrong, I was right. The balance has been restored.

And look how silent they are now.

Did you forget? I am so well liked by SHF and have so many friends here! I obviously called my friendliest friends to bully them out of SHF, that's why they are silent.

But reality is different. I'm the big, fat, bad bully that took SHF over with my little gremlin underlings such as you, prince, Paul, Erysion, OokamiOkuri, and others. Soon I will take over the rest of the site. They've tried to warn you all, but it's too late now.
