Everyone needs breaks once in awhile. I think burnout is your brain saying "man i love this. Lets stop before we hate doing this thing we love"

Have you ever stopped to think about just how backwards the concept of burnout actually is?

Brain: "I love doing thing! Thing is my favorite thing to do!"
You: "Okay, let's do thing!"
Brain: "I will literally jump off a cliff if I ever have to do thing again."
In what sense?

The same way we have a physical limit, we also have a psychological limit.

If you are kept running multiple days without respite, your body will break down eventually due to fatigue. The same is true for your mind. It will break down eventually. Especially, as intellectual work is work too.

Like that one stephen king book - the long walk. except less depressing and traumatizing.

-me casually thinking about One Step Closer by linkin park at the mention of 'breaks'-
:blob_sir:

'Cause I'm one step closer to the edge!
And I'm about to, break!

When I break, I sleep. Then I wake up until I break again.
And sleep.

My friend, did you know? The best sleep comes after a hard day of physical and/or mental work.

Try not to judge me for quoting “Friends” but I see it like this:
Dr. Franzblau: I try not to let my work affect my personal life, but it's hard, when you do... what I do [gynecologist]. It's like uh... Well, for instance, what do you do?
Rachel: I'm a waitress.
Dr. Franzblau: Okay, all right. Well, aren't there times when you come home at the end of the day, and you're just, like, "If I see one more cup of coffee..."

You might love to write, but there are some days when if you have to construct one more coherent sentence…

You need to find something to motivate yourself.

Some people are just burnt out by everything they enjoy, and they should get themselves checked for depression.
