Good to know, thanks for the normal reply. However people's actual works HAVE been taken down. Either way it just seems like greedy Patreon authors trying to axe their competition in an easy way. Modern day witch hunt.

None of the authors had any real say in this decision. However, you do bring up a good point about greedy Patreons. Personally, I think every "translator" who posted a "translation" of someone's original work hosted on Qidian or any other Chinese novel hosting site without permission and then set up a Patreon to make money off someone else's work without their permission should be subject to legal action.

Bummer, though it was a bug at first, but after a couple days dug around to find this forum to see what was up.

Find a bunch of people being gleeful assholes over other people being confused about poorly communicated changes and misused http error codes.

Anyway OP I also found the website sudenly lying with HTTP ERROR:404 about a story it still clearly listed and allowed to update to be confusing.

A brief review of the stories remaining on the site (followed by a scalding shower) quickly clarifies why they are so happy to ban competition though. AND why they think anyone would waste their time reading some random websites TOS or their forum drivel, because it's probably less mind numbing than their stories.

It's illegal to profit off someone else's work. You don't need to read a "random" website's ToS or a forum to know that. Translations posted by the original author of the work are allowed. All this rule enforcement did was temporarily cut off an avenue for "translators" profiting off stories they had no permission to "translate" or paywall.

Look at the bright side. At least more people know the forum existed now.

People in the internet will always be assholes. This is inevitable since it is in their nature.

Most of the stories remaining are low quality because this is a website for hobbyist, not professional or established author. Real authors find the forum as a distraction and avoid the forum before they finished their story. They care little about competition because they are confident in their ability to attract readers.

The hobbyist in the forum who will do anything but write also think nothing of competition because they write for fun when they are bored and not for money. Only shameless ones doing self-promotion want their story read.

Never ever compare the quality of something written by someone when they are bored and a work by dedicated authors from overseas. The ones whose work the translators are stealing for money. Sometimes without proper credit.
