yeah , i dont understand what the problem is with giving a simple prompt like "banned for being a translation: original-link"
you r right something like this shouldnt be a problem as it could be easily automated after a verification process of the fiction being actually a translation.
I'm aware this isn't a message meant for me, but I'm gonna respond to it too.
So, I don't think it can... skill issue. It took Tony a year to put this place together before opening it to the first of us, and even then there were still bugs to be smoothed out. And Tony wasn't alone cleaning up the mess back then either. I don't believe Tony can, but if so, it would be a slippery slope towards automated enforcement. I've experienced that elsewhere and it is just as fun as the ban wave, only consistent with not giving a fuck who or what anybody is doing here.
offensichtlich an die leute, die für die art und weise wie diese bannwelle implementiert wurde, verantwortlich sind. deswegen heißt es ja feedback.
Danke für die Klarstellung.
yeah, fck u 2 and thx for upholding the rules. i know it s a lot work. but what u showed here explained exactly why what i m asking for shouldnt even be a bother. u found the original and gave evidence it s a translation, case closed. the prompt i m asking for should be automated it has nothing to do with u, unless u r one of the guys handling the integration of automated systems on the website.
Oh, speaking of automated systems... wait, is that really happening.
I agree completely. Apparently this is really an authors only website, because the draconian nature of this ban showed incredibly little concern for readers. Any reader who questioned wtf was happening in forums only received a condescending, curt reply. And not even an official reply. Just some snarky comments from administrator wannabe toadies. And if you dare to question the toadies pseudo authority by proxy, the replies get nasty. Even this ban feedback topic, posted in the readers forum was taken over by authors. Many of whom only here to taunt and express pleasure at the distress of others. I don't know why I expected better of authors, but I did. And now I know better.
Look, you should really go after the one who finally pushed the button; Tony. Aim your disdain properly because, right now, it's hitting everybody. Also, why everybody in this thread is bitching, and I mean that from both sides, I haven't a clue.
All we do is report. Tony could've completely ignored those and moved on.
To be clear, Tony listened to a Megathread for over half a year. What happened? What the fuck happened during those months?
Anything?
No.
This ban wave?
That happened.
You know what?
That shouldn't have happened. I am in agreement there should've been some sort of message made to prevent all of this fallout. We on the forums got the memo after the fact, but what the fuck does that do for where the nuke dropped?
The main site is ground zero, not SHF. Nobody was prepared.
But that is also why none of those translations got removed were permanently deleted; there are backend copies stored in the event an appeal can be made to provide evidence their removal was unjustified.
Any of you have complaints, direct it to the one person who can do something about it. Everyone in this thread are our peers. That's why I'm so confused about all of this bitching. Like, seriously, we're better off screaming at a wall. At least then the neighbors can get us some genuine help to cope.
Is that mockery? Yes. But it should give everybody an idea of what it would be like if you or you did it and suddenly had to explain what the hell you and you are doing towards your neighbors. Like, what are ya gonna say? Some site owner removed all of the translations?
Hey, good news. SH and SHF are neighbors. We get it. We're also on the defensive and combative because this whole thread started out with an attack on our character; that's both ways. Again, why? There are worse people out there who are falsely reporting novels for simply being better than theirs or, even worse, they simply don't like the theme; like they never even read a word of it, just saw it had one tag and decided to do a "KYS" report.
Yes, if you haven't encountered those sorts of people, they do exist. But getting into that would be derailing the topic here.
Yeah, I'm aware I sound defensive and combative. I've made it clear I'm aggressive, but not hostile. Hey, is there a smidge of triumph in my voice? For what? I'm watching the Lounge, and I'm seeing folks looking around blindly in search of their translated novel. There is no way for any of us to publicly announce what happened. I know I tried individually messaging them on whomever platform they reached out to in concern. But that's how many? I can't do that over hours, let alone days now.
Besides, I ain't getting paid for this shit; I was simply concerned. I don't like witnessing mass confusion like that. It reminds of... bad times.
This post of mine? It's not meant to deescalate or stir the pot, but to set a boundary. I'd like to move on. I don't mean that in a way like I've said my piece and I'm done, I'm saying what I want is... I don't want to talk about this anymore. Wait, that's not it... I don't want to see this anymore. I'm here to have fun and... this? This ain't a joyride for me.
