How sensible is your protagonist? Are they sensible or unhinged?

My dude is definitely unhinged. His first thought when he saw some eldritch horror entity was: "Yeah, I can beat that." Spoiler alert, he did not beat that.

She thinks she's perfectly sensible. (Everyone else knows she's unhinged)

Too sensible. So his problems come from the unhinged people around him.

From the pov of a modern reader and himself? Sensible.

From the pov of the renaissance era people around him? Depending on the topic he’s anything from a crazy idealist (slavery bad) to the most absurdly apathetic person alive (being lied about in public) to the most carefully considered calculated individual they’ve ever seen (branding and choice of clothes matter for starting a business!) and they can never tell which topics will provoke which reaction unless they’ve already fielded questions on this topic.

At the final arc if my story, an explosion from the fictional strongest particles of the universe, time, is in the horizon and her response was 'you know what, I can make a mathematical formula for that', so there's that

Jeremy: sensible, logical, always tries to think things through. An absolute fish out of water in a world where you have to fight monsters to stay sentient.

Miranda: reckless, adrenaline junkie, constantly pulling more and more dangerous stunts in an effort to distract herself from a hundred separate cases of PTSD. Easily guilt tripped, and will throw herself in harm's way without hesitation in a mixture of trying to fix her mistakes, and an effort to punish herself.

That is to say, she's not very sensible.

Too sensible, honestly. I worry that readers will drop the novel because they aren't adventurous/spunky enough.

For some reason, every (literally every, every) protagonist I have is the 4th and 5th option... I just like different tropes of unreliable and unpredictable MCs I guess... One of the selling point of my recently ended novel was the scene where she sniff a chair somebody sat and [redacted]

Is being a sane person in an insane universe being the unhinged one or the ... ah... hinged one?

Define "sensible" in terms of "Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters"... and hingedness in terms of Doorman...
