    Food for Thought

"Radar" is spelled the same way backwards and forwards. There. I revealed the hidden knowledge I was bestowed with when I was a wee lad. You may now pass it down to the generations to come.

Need advice for people who have finished some novel

Hmmm. This is a scenario that can unfold in many ways. If you're going for a realistic feel, keep any physical altercations (whether w/ fisticuffs or firearms) very short in terms of actual time passage. We're talking about fights lasting 10 seconds or even less; that's usually how it goes in...

Do any of your characters have a catchphrase?

"Let's get dangerous!" Wait, that's not my MC. Nevermind, it's one of the best catchphrases in history regardless. ?

"SYSTEMS", Floating Sceens, Skills and levels, YAY or NAY

Hard 'Nay'. "Systems", LitRPG, or whatever you want to call it, is either one of the laziest or most noobish plot devices ever conceived in my opinion. They are a low-effort type of shortcut to good storytelling, and devalue any plot by way of their absurd contrivances, no matter how well they...

:sneaky: I've "been around" life in general, as well the Internet for a long time now. I'm not an actual grognard, but I'm old enough to know forgotten terms life "surfing the web" and "netiquette". But no, I'm a recent person regarding web novel sites and Scribblehub in particular. Discovered...

If I understand correctly, you are near the end of your book, but not the end of the story itself? Heh. That sounds like a classic case for a sequel. Which is a good thing! It means the story just turned out larger than you planned it. :) If that's the case, what is stopping you from writing a...

Familiar as in how? It's a variant version from the "cover" of my smut novel "My Wife Is A Giant Horny Dinosaur Mage". I registered... last year in May, iirc.

Uhhh, just to be completely clear (I tend to forget emotional context doesn't travel well in written communication) I said that thing without any trace of irony or facetiousness. I find it really clever. Even transplanted it into a small Bulgarian forum about literature that I frequent from time...

I tend to enter once a day in the evening for about an hour, when I'm doing the rounds posting the latest chapter of TCW. When I'm not at my home desktop, I tend to live a very "offline" life. Use my pocket computer (aka smartphone) only for Telegram messaging, email checking, and map navigation.

This is beautiful. Absolute genius of memetic shorthand. It belongs in textbooks for creative writing. Like, for real. So, basically how you should approach any skill if one's after sheer mastery? Cause imo that's how it works for anything in life. As my brother says (quoting other sources)...

    Your views on standard complexity.

For me, "complexity" is defined mainly by verisimilitude. The more believable and authentic a story seems, the more complex it is, imo; since the real world has endless interconnectedness and interaction on all levels of existence, even a "simple" story like a slice-of-life can be very complex...

Authors ~ Review your own work?

Full disclosure, as a thought experiment, I'd be down for it, just not in a public setting. Some things require discretion, if only because people are hardwired to jump to (any) conclusions unless they remodel their psyche at a core level.

Authors ~ Review your own work?

Too self-aggrandizing, even if done with best intentions. I already have enough negative traits, I'll pass adding that to my character.

To Lewd Or Not To Lewd

Porn/smut is applicable only when the intimate scenes (whether sexual in nature or not) are described explicitly, with vocabulary focused on the carnal and the "physical" stuff. There are plenty of romantic (and non-romantic) stories which include sex scenes, but the way they are explored and...

What you can't do in youre story

This is... flooring. If I was a drinker, I would've been with a stiff one in hand right now. Probably a couple. Sure, maybe you're pulling my leg. Or your observations are skewed. I have no idea, because as you said, it's the internet - any weird shit goes on here. But that's a rather chilling...

What you can't do in youre story

You had some "interesting" clients. But 30c/word is not enough to do what amounts to a serious crime. That's like, what, 90 dollars per page? Licensed business contract translators make more, and they are in high demand.
