Is it okay to tell readers when so and so is about to start after such and such chapter

Heh, I don't think I have evert written a juicy scene that was only a paragraph or two. Generally, I want those sorts of scenes to add just as much to the plot as any other action, adventure, exploration, or social chapter. I don't tend to add them as 'fanservice rewards' (although I do not...

What is the Hardest Genre to Write?

Romance. Not 'bodice ripper' style romance, but 'hallmark movie' romance that can actually last more than a single book. At least, in my experience.

Ideas you once thought were original but later found out were generic

I honestly have no idea. I keep getting banned for being insufficiently enthusiastic and worshipful of whatever perversions they are pushing this week. Oh right, this time I was banned for suggesting that Aztec cannibalism might actually be a good source of evil mythology for my book.

Should the prohibited content rules for Scribblehub be ammended to include Illegal Monetization?

If people can make drug dealer levels of money without actually hurting anyone, more power to them. His argument revolves entirely around the idea that people writing over nine THOUSAND pages of their own hard work are somehow his social inferiors because they started from an established world...

    Is it obvious?

I do admit though, just reading through the list, my mouth waters. It's been so long since I've had good spanakopita or souvlaki. But the dolmades thing is usually mentioned as Dolmas or dolmathes in this country, instead. No idea why. Also, unless you are talking strictly Athenian, people...

Do you like stories where protagonist return from death?

The initial impression from the first 6 chapters? You rush your worldbuilding a bit. It makes it hard to actually mentally envision what's going on. A few descriptive terms, maybe a couple of dozen words per chapter, could go a long way toward helping people envision the scene. Like the...

Do you like stories where protagonist return from death?

How come it's seldom a story where the protagonist returns TO death?

Ideas you once thought were original but later found out were generic

I honestly wasn't trying to be sarcastic, I was being genuine. I was in the military for 15 years... sometimes my brain's demands for logic are to the detriment of my imagination and story. I was actually being completely literal in my praise.

Is it just me, or are the scribblehub tools shockingly good for such an unassuming site?

I was actually going through and carefully looking at the publishing tools that scribblehub has available and comparing them to some competitors, and DANG. Talk about a lot of intuitiveness going on! and reverts? a DECENT search and replace? There are a few things I'd prefer to update like...

Ideas you once thought were original but later found out were generic

I would say that that level of self-delusion is absolutely the GREATEST tool a fiction writer could possibly possess. Great job! keep it up! If you can lie to your audience half as well as you can lie to yourself, I expect to see your books on the silver screen in no time! Can I say I knew you...

    Suspension of disbelief: Plothole edition

I am weird. In my case, I introduced the Mayor, and one of my readers suggested that she show her fanny in a pair of spanx and some Jimmy Choos. Three hours later I re-wrote the twist ending so that the protagonist's best friend 'big gay Jim' (Who isn't big, isn't gay, and isn't actually named...

    Unique Ways To Get Isekaied

But... somertimes the intro is by far the most fun part of the book! Look at my book 'dead guys'. the prologue intro is pretty much meaningless, until much later, but my protagonist gets to DRIVE TRUCK-KUN INTO A TEENAGER!

Megamind. As long as you don't actually have to LOOK at him, he's okay.

    Suspension of disbelief: Plothole edition

at least in Gamelit, a glaring plot hole is actually just a plot complication. (Let's find out what cheat they used!) There's a reason I enjoy reader feedback. Heck, some of my best plot twists have come from my reader commentary. (usually without their knowledge)

    Is it obvious?

Agreed. There is a very thin line between a listing of popular Greek, Indian, or Swedish food and a distributed denial of service attack.... Or is that a war crime?

Stories Getting Destroyed with a Reason Being SaiD.

"Rainbow Warrior". Combination of a psychopathic narcissistic Homelander (years before Homelander was ever written) and an over-the-top racebaiter and ideological avenger. He managed to piss off every single person that heard about him, but when I had the green knight set an armor-piercing bomb...

Should the sites like Scribble Hub use the 5-star rating system?

I would LOVE a rating system like steam especially since, I am perfectly capable of disliking a product, and still giving it a recommendation for others, especially if I am writing a brief review. that way I can itemize the parts I dislike without tanking the whole work. This is a GREAT idea.

Should the prohibited content rules for Scribblehub be ammended to include Illegal Monetization?

Guess what? You just disproved your own argument. In no place does Royalroad SPECIFICALLY prohibit fanfic writers from using Patreon? Fanfic cannot 'add' buy or donation links. HOWEVER, author donation links are still completely legal. Why? because supporting a writer who writes fanfic is...

Should the prohibited content rules for Scribblehub be ammended to include Illegal Monetization?

Except that taxable income has no bearing on copyright law. "In-kind donations" is a marketing term used for a completely different sort of commercial interaction. Buzzwords used on procedural crime dramas do not reinforce your argument, and comparing fanfic to the term used as a shallow excuse...
