    1) Write well 2) Get lucky

    Irl Money?

Write a lot, publish wide and keep going.

    Irl Money?

Editors cost big bucks, but they'll also have you rewrite your book to suit their ideas. It's a bad idea.

    Irl Money?

Do you really want a co-writer? Because that's what an editor becomes.

    Do you guys still care?

Mostly I don't use that much description, when you say "description" do you mean what things look like? Because I'm constantly trying to add in more sounds, smells, the way things smell, etc. Often I don't really have that much description, but at times where I feel like I want more, I'll spend...

Romance genre or romance subplot tag?

Personally I would like to see a romance in every single story I read. I like romance. If it takes up page time, then I would put the sub-genre tag in. Does it effect the characters in any way that makes them act differently regarding the main plot? If so, I would put the genre tag in.

I just posted all the chapters of my edited first book.

When you say "delete it" you do mean off site and not from your PC, right? I would leave it up. Also, I regularly break every single one of those things you mentioned, lol. For lines... Well it really depends on what you're reading on. A PC screen will make the lines fewer, while if you read on...

    Why such long stories?

    *Smack!*

    Why such long stories?

Oh, I understand, trust me. I naturally write pretty lean, but even for the sake of argument, if you doubled the word count, it's still pretty short stuff. Most of what I write amounts to novella length stories. I hate the word "novella." I prefer to call them "short novels" like they did back...

    Why such long stories?

Movies are typically an hour and a half to two hours. A long movie is two and a half hours to three hours. I don't know about you, but I love a really well-made block buster, and I'm pretty excited for Avatar 2, regardless of whether or not it's "fern gully." Not even sure what that is, but I do...

Someone made a new account just to give me a 2 star review.

Maybe it's just me, but if I want to have a dig at somebody, I would want them to know it was me.

How fast do you write? (And how do you deal with perfectionism?)

What do you even consider to be a chapter? I write a lot of different stuff, so sometimes my chapters are as short as 300 words on a project while other times they're 6,000 words. Writing fiction is a creative process, not a critical one--though you can certainly make it a critical one. That's...

    Username/PenName

What is the current one? Mine is Lawrence Caldwell. I chose Lawrence because I love Spice & Wolf, and I chose Caldwell because he was a lieutenant among America's first marines who died in the Barbary Wars 19th century. It's a normal sounding name though.

    How to write comedy?

The only way I'm ever funny is when I'm having a good time and I'm not trying to be funny. Do you laugh at your own jokes? Then write like you don't care, and the jokes will come out. I assure you. Also is you have a narrator that's slightly more disconnected, you can use that to have a sort of...

I hereby declare victory against the haters.

I don't know... After that wacko on the Royal Road forums who keeps shoving his arrogance around and calling people names (I won't name him) this dude doesn't seem too bad.

Nothing wrong with that. : )

Good on you. It's better this way. I'm sad to hear writing made things worse for you, though.
