So... the cover I made for my somwhat spicy fantasy space opera?

Well, I'm going for a mix of space opera and fantasy, so I'm trying to convey that in the title text. I'm reworking the cover a bit with some different options to also make the middle more readable. That might make a great comedy! lol

    Short Stories

I've never written shorter stuff to get better. My favorite length is the novelette, which is between 7,500 words and 17,500. I prefer the longer side. Novellas are nice too, but I hate calling them that. I call them "short novels," which go from 17,501 words to 39,999 words. I don't like...

    Daily quota

You should write whatever amount you're comfortable with. I write 3,000 words a day seven days a week without fail. However, for Royal Road's Writathon, I did 6,000 and more every single day for two weeks. Wow, I got a lot done. I wrote 100,000 words in that time span. 6,000 is a lot for me, but...

What’s it like for a author to read their own works?

The moor I read my own stuff, the more I dislike it. However, I write a lot. A LOT. And often I will forget what I wrote. When that happens and I go back and ready, I'm usually surprised and think , "I wrote this?" Usually I realize something is a lot better than I thought it was.

How important is it to you for stories to have interesting chapter titles?

I used to be obsessed with chapter titles, and most of what I write has them to attract readers, but I really don't mind a nice clean no-titled chapter.

    Does anyone read fairy tails?

Cam trembles with fear at the seemingly impossible return of her stepsister but tries to keep it cool, attempting to befriend her instead. But Tam knows better. She acts coy at first, then tricks Cam into jumping in a hole, which she then fill with hot water. Boiled through and through, Cam...

    Does anyone read fairy tails?

It's really nice to see that other people here have read and have an interest in them. I'm giving it serious thought! In fact, I already wrote an Arabian Nights-inspired story, even with the nineteenth century diction found in the translation. Not sure what you read as a kid, but these fairy...

    Does anyone read fairy tails?

I'm reading the Arabian Nights, finished The Brother's Grimm, the Blue Fairy book, and am now in the middle of the Red Fairy Book. I've noticed something. Madame d'Aulnoy. For the western fairy tales, hers are in fact the best and most entertaining. Interesting that she coined the term "fairy...

    Calling all authors

I guess I'm an "author." I mean, I have written before. However, I produce quite a lot, so I prefer the term "writer." I'm not sure why you're arguing with this person, as unpleasant and rude as she is, that's grounds to just avoid her. I mean, if we're all just writing trash isekai wish...

What if you want to write something that you think most people hates?

Storytelling is an art, so write what you want and present it in the manner that you want (assuming you're not breaking site rules) and don't worry about it. Even if you get one reader who enjoys the story for 99 haters, that's fine. Some stories have wide audfiences, while others don't. There's...

    The Second Tempest Contest

My story is "set in space" during a big battle, but it's not about exploration specifically. Would it still be okay to enter under this genre theme?

I would call a person who follows your author profile a "fan" for sure.

    Drafts

Ah, okay. Most of my stuff is first draft. Now, I do change things as I'm writing the document, if a sentence doesn't work, I'll backspace or whatever, but I don't do that constantly. I write like 2,000 words an hour, so I'm not really "revising" the chapter. And I certainly don't save multiple...

    Drafts

I'm confused by the question. If you write something, it's a draft. Are you asking if I do multiple passes (more than one draft) or if I plan the chapter out before I write it?

    How do you do it???

I've made the decision to write at "pulp writer speed," which is a million or more words a year. In 2021 I wrote 3,000 words a day seven days a week for six months, took a six month break from writing, and now since January first this year, I've written 3,000 words a day seven days a week...
