Do you prefer more detail, or less detail when it comes to the environment in a story.

The environment isn't just a setting; it's the atmosphere of a scene. By using the environment as atmosphere, you can manipulate the reader's mood regarding the situation the characters are facing in a scene. So, they might immerse themselves in the scene. For example, Corpses, blood, broken...

Adventure/Fantasy-story writers, how do you keep travel sequences interesting?

Follow the adventure premise of your story! Check out Majo no Tabi-Tabi and Frieren for references. Elaina travels from one city to another, following her mother's journey. Meanwhile, Frieren travels back to reminisce about adventures with her friends (most of whom are now deceased).

Anyone else struggle to write romance

There's another possibility: aromantic. This type typically struggles to feel romantically attached to others, has difficulty falling in love, and is more satisfied with planotic relationships (interpersonal relationships based on trust and genuine support). Regardless, I recommend writing what...

What would you say you struggle to write most?

Narrating an epic war scene on a battlefield involving hundreds of thousands of troops attacking each other. The situation is utterly chaotic. The atmosphere is utterly dark and brutal. Narrating this scene without distracting, confused, or losing the reader's focus is a complex challenge.

How was your first experience with publishing here?

One word. Unexpected. I just published a random story here to test it out; but readers loved it. On the other hand, the quality of my narrative makes me want to roll in the grass when I reread it. :blob_pout:

Hello, from an old rocker chick turned author!

Not to be rude... but this claim is a bit of an exaggeration, isn't it?

    Which is more unsettling?

Children are afraid to go to the bathroom alone in the dark at night. Not because they're afraid of ghosts... but because they're afraid of the darkness itself. Darkness often blurs the line between imagination and reality, leading to negative thoughts. Yesterday, I teased my little nephew. I...

How long are your first chapters?

The first chapter (read: prologue) usually contains the overall premise of the fiction. This chapter is usually designed with a fast pace and an instant payoff at the end (hook) to make the reader care about your story, especially your protagonist. How long should it be? Well, there's no rule...

    Is this real or not?

Congratulations! Your development as a writer is phenomenal. I could see it from the moment I read your first chapter. Although the delivery is heavy on exposition, your narrator's voice is very entertaining (read: funny). I knew... this work had great potential, and now the results are showing...

Editing Revising Chapter 1 while webnovel is live?

Many writers rewrite early chapters as their narrative skills improve. Some see rewriting as a way to gauge their early and current writing skills. Others rewrite early chapters to refine their narrative. Does rewriting guarantee readership? Well, that's debatable. But generally, rewriting new...
