If it's a series, I'd just plot loosely far enough in advance that I know what I'm aiming for, and then I'd plot the scenes for the chapter I'm writing somewhat more heavily. I don't always stick to the outline, but it's useful when you need to write on autopilot. It also helps to schedule time...

I really prefer just normal music when I'm writing. It's rare that I don't find instrumental music distracting.

Do you mean real polyamory? Real polyamory doesn't mean that everyone's in a relationship with everyone else. Actually, it's pretty uncommon that you'll share lovers. You don't have to get along with your lover's lovers either, although it will be messy and a real nightmare if you don't.
