Thanks so much! I like the community here very much! *gives you a big huggle* *confused expression* Where are the warm fuzzies? *looks around* Shoot! They fell out! Here! *gives you a handful of tangled warm fuzzies* Sorry, I'm no good at huggles.

Stories with summaries as the title

Not bad! It tells the reader what to expect with enough of a question to leave them wanting more, and it has no liabilities that would detract an otherwise-interested reader. It could use a little polish, but I'm sure the same can be said of all of mine.

Stories with summaries as the title

Honestly, there's almost zero chance that I'll read a story with a title like that. I usually make my reading decisions based on the synopsis and tags, not the title, and I don't think I've ever seen somebody writing "I Was Reincarnated as an Armadillo, and Now I Think I'm in Love With My...

    Some Good Underrated Tropes please

In my story, Consequences of Magic, both of the characters who undergo gender bends (Natalie and Vince) are back by the end of the novel. Of course, Natalie (originally Martin) underwent a swap in the first novel (On My Best Behavior), so it's a reversion back to being Natalie again, but I think...

"Guess I suck at being an author..."

In my experience, schooling and practical skill are two separate axes, at least as far as artistic pursuits are concerned. There's some correlation between schooling and skill in that it's rare to see somebody at the top of their game without some formal education in the arts (whether that's...

    Lifespan

Unless you're trying to adhere to a specific fantasy or myth tradition, the lifespan of fantasy races is entirely up to you. Heck, the lifespan of humans in your story is entirely up to you.

    Reacting to Hate Comments

The comments that I receive are largely (overwhelmingly) positive and usually without a whole lot of meat to them (e.g. "great chapter!" or "what a cliffhanger!"). Occasionally, I have a person reacting extremely negatively, usually because some of my stories have a lot of sex and violence in...

Is ScribbleHub cool with LGBT+ users?

I think this is fair. It's fine for somebody to correct you if you address them incorrectly, whether it's pronouns or something else. This is no different than correcting you for calling them the wrong name (e.g. "Your name is Laura? I thought it was Lisa! I'm sorry... I'll be sure to remember...

Is ScribbleHub cool with LGBT+ users?

I don't know how else to get across that asking people not to be assholes is not, in fact, a victim mentality. And for those people who that repulses or pushes in the other direction? They are, in fact, assholes, and I'm not sure there's much point in attempting rational discourse with them...

Is ScribbleHub cool with LGBT+ users?

There is no social requirement for you to be decent to other people and not be an asshole. But getting upset when people don't show you the modicum of common decency and respect to refer to you as you wish to be referred is not unreasonable and it is not playing the victim. People have the right...

SH Readers: Do you like supers?

I like superheroes enough that I wrote a novel about them so, yeah. One of the things that I don't like about the superhero genre in general is that they generally (but not always) do a poor job of A) portraying how regular people and society would react to superheroes being real and B)...

    POV

Generally speaking, you need some sort of narrative device to make the split make any sense. Basically, what Ral said. If you establish a pattern of having some chapters be 1st person from the main POV narrator and other chapters be 3rd person from the POV of other characters, that might be one...

Is ScribbleHub cool with LGBT+ users?

There's a good reason that the language is evolving. The old language was pointlessly exclusionary. Of course, as writers, it's our job to command the language for the sake of narrative, and sometimes that means delving into that weird old language. For instance, one of my villains is a 300...

Writing Tips - Adding Detail to A Story

I'll second what Farok said and add something else. What Farok was emphasizing here is mostly word choice, which is absolutely important. However, knowing what to describe is just as important as how you describe it. We aren't painting pictures or taking photographs here, we're writing. If you...

Is ScribbleHub cool with LGBT+ users?

Back in the olden days, they used to use "he/him" for default, just like they used to say "man" and "mankind" in short for all of humanity. It sounds super weird to modern ears, but that's how it used to be. Personally, I find no problem in conversing online or IRL without needing to reference...
