Like the person above said, I personally found it interesting. I'm not sure if it will be the show to rekindle your interest in the medium, but do give it a shot.

It's airing now. Pretty cool show, although reception is a bit polarized because of how mixed the genres seem to be. It's supposed to be a detective show, but then you start getting the fanservice, the mechas, the supernatural powers, some Resident Evil-esque monsters, etc.

I don't read much medieval/high fantasy but I do say that in the classic RPG classes, necromancers and paladins are two of my favorite non-enchanter/healer classes. Although paladins could count in that class at times, I guess.
