What do you think about a twist on a familiar trope that completely changes its fundamental essense?

There is a whole romance series where the vampires aren't undead (Lyndsey Sands), they are descendants of the ancient city of Atlantis whose ancestors had been injected with nanobots to aid in healing. The first few are a fun read. But it does a good job of taking the common vampire mythos and...

Do you write out of chronological order?

Sometimes. If I have an event that I need to place that is critical for the story I will sometimes write that first and then go back and write the intervening chapters that are necessary for getting to that point from the current point. This is mainly on stories I am writing seat of the pants...

    Writing woes and editing struggles

This. Don't be me and start trying to edit the actual story and really screw it up. Try multiple versions and keep the best parts that fit your goal for the scene.

How can I properly retcon something

Either just go back and edit it, or, make up a new source of his powers and make him have been wrong- as in 'I thoughtI got powers from X, but it was actually Y'. This way both the characters and readers can have the rug pulled out from under them.

    What should i do?

English is fun, we have a whole host of words that sound the same but are spelled differently and have hugely different meanings. Spellchecker will not catch these. I would suggest learning these words and their usage. Two/To/Too. Their/There/They're. Your/You're. Whether/Weather.

Should i create other accounts to create different type of content?

You wouldn't be the first to do it, there are several published authors who use multiple pen names based on genre. Dean Kootz has 8 or 9 I believe though his was apparently due to writing so many books a year that he didn't want to saturate the market.

    What makes them different?

Effort- if you aggressively market yourself, build a fan base, it makes it easier to attract a publisher. Researching agents and publishers and tailoring your presentation to appeal to them takes time.

    'Save the Cat' plotting

I get that- I have been looking at a few different outline templates and have been loosely following the 3 act, 27 chapter method. Tried following 'the heroes journey' and it just wasn't clicking with me, and the story I'm trying to write. I will probably steal some of the ideas from the 'Save...

    'Save the Cat' plotting

Is anyone here familiar with this outlining method? I hadn't heard of it until I saw it referenced in a reddit post yesterday. It breaks down the story outline into fifteen 'beats' that span the three acts. Each 'beat' is a plot point meant to address/accomplish a certain thing in the story. It...

Writing Does story really need to be grammatically correct?

It really depends. One of the stories on here I have read, and enjoy, is written by someone from Eastern Europe. I could tell even before she told someone that in the comments as the way she structured sentences wasn't how an American or British speaker generally would. Well not always...

Stance on Harems and what do you think make them bad? Also if you were to write a Harem, how much do you think would be the number limit of members.

No worries, Didn't think you were picking a fight. Each of the female characters that compromises the harem is well done. For each of them you can understand why they are attracted to the MC. But, well you are also shown that well the MC likes them, loves them, cares about them, the one he...

Writing How do you deal with/prevent/manage power creep/rising stakes in story telling?

'Weak' enemies+clever application of powers= (potentially) as/ more dangerous then more powerful enemies who just attack blindly, relying on their power to win the fight. I am dealing with an iteration of this in my current story- the mc is decently powerful(for the setting) but the Villain is...

Stance on Harems and what do you think make them bad? Also if you were to write a Harem, how much do you think would be the number limit of members.

I feel like Rosario is a well done example of an unwanted harem. Does he like them as friends? Yes. Would he take a blow/bullet/blade for them? Yes. Would he do almost anything to make them happy? Yes. However, the only one he seems to really want is Outer-Moka. The others block and interfere...

Stance on Harems and what do you think make them bad? Also if you were to write a Harem, how much do you think would be the number limit of members.

Most harem works have a painfully generic mc where it seems like if the world's population was less that 8 billion + they would struggle to find one person(man/woman/girl/boy/furry/sexbot or other) who would want them, let alone a plurality. The next issue is a quality vs quantity. You have the...
