  • :meowsip:Fun fact of the day: Xwedodah (Persian: خویدوده khwēdōdah; Avestan: xᵛae¯tuuadaθa) is a type of consanguine marriage historically practiced in Zoroastrianism before the Muslim conquest of Persia Such marriages are recorded as having been inspired by Zoroastrian cosmogony and considered pious. It was a high act of worship in Zoroastrianism, and there were punishments for not performing it.

Incest is definitely wack, but it is interesting that it almost seems to be the default for a lot of the world...at least in the past :blob_hmm:

:meowsip: Incest like many other religious prohibitions of the past had an entirely practical background.

People of course noticed that it eventually lead to degeneration. So they noticed that it was bad. That is why they prohbited it.

The bible, for example, has a lot of such practical advice. Like installing railing on your balcony, so that people do not fall down.

Or not cutting down all trees to make siege equipment while sieging a city because it will lead to desertification. It was noticed already back then.

Or which people you must kill and which enslave upon conquering a city. :meowsip:
I wonder if anyone's ever done research into the psychology of isekai, "kicked out of the hero's party", and "cheating girlfriend revenge" stories.

I think it could reveal a lot about the minds of young Japanese men :blob_hmm:

Understandable why you don't see it. First you like it. Second every time you disagree with a point of view of deconstructor you say it's not deconstruction but something else. Bias is understandable.

I don't know how you got that impression. I think "deconstruction" is just a way to approach things. When a writer tries to tinker with tropes, whether the result is good or bad, I see it as the same process. It's a matter of how the writer handles what they're doing. I'm not trying to pull a "No true Scotsman" thing :blob_hmm:

My bad with that part, misunderstood previous replies. The first part still holds up though.
Fun fact: If you overlay the westernmost point of Indonesia over Norway, the easternmost point will be in... Mongolia

Big ass country and for what? :blob_cringe:

It's often forgotten that Ringo invented Spongebob. He really is the best Beatle. I just wish he wasn't a shit husband, but then he wouldn't be a Beatle.

This song has some of George's best guitar work too. It's so nice and tropical. The bubble sounds overdubbed onto the guitar solo are a nice touch. If only he didn't sleep with Ringo's wife.

I think Ringo has a really pleasing voice though
I will always fall for "revenge is bad" propaganda

Not because I don't believe righteous retribution exists, but because I find the journey of letting go much more compelling :blob_hmm:

But I also love characters who get their revenge but are left with nothing else :blob_hmm:
I realize that "unhinged" would fit the idea I'm trying to convey better than "deranged" :sweating_profusely:

The great artists of the world are at least a little bit unhinged. They are sickos about the object of their interest

Alski said I'm not allowed to feed the question mark until it opens its profile.
I am realizing that I am not deranged enough. This is why I'm not as good of a writer as I could be. The greatest writers were all wackjobs.

This isn't me romanticizing mental illness. I think derangedness can be a learned trait, independent of existing maladies.

Rather... I think its more to do with... have strong feelings about "truths". Or incredible ability to understand a "truth" then interpret it.

That could very well lead to derangement :blob_hmm:

It's a good manga, albeit the finish is way too rushed.

I actually wasn't following the manga, but I followed the last few chapters, and I was baffled that the author just chose to end it there.

Especially when a lot of modern romance manga are exploring what happens after the couple gets together :blob_hmm:

The author said he(she?) will finish it way befor the finishing line. Author had 40 or so chapters to make a satisfying ending, yet it still end up feeling rushed. Weird case really.
    Daily music recommendation #130

Deathconsciousness is a weird album. No one can even agree on its genre(s). It was made on a shoestring budget and a stone age mic. It might also be the only album to come with a wacky 70 page philosophical booklet about "Deathconsciousness" as a concept (idk I've never read it).

The concept is of course "everything dies and nothing matters lol"

Not the most cheery album. In fact, I had Bloodhail off the album as my first recommendation just for how downer it is.

Earthmover is no different. It's like, about golems who want to die or something (idk I can hardly make out the lyrics). But this song just hits different. 11 and a half minutes of agony and pain.

I don't want to spoil the song, but its second half conveys, what sounds to me, the feeling of death. It's like the classic light at the end of the tunnel, except it isn't a light. It isn't even the joke about the truck. It's just kinda something. The feeling's visceral and intense, but positive or negative descriptors just fail to explain it. It's Deathconsciousness.
I really wanna eat some trees right now :blob_drool:
I will never fall for strawberry propaganda.

Both real and artificial strawberries taste awful :blob_cringe:

    Good on cheesecakes though :blob_drool:
