I don't like this trope as well. At least kick out truly useless MC out of the party, yet MC that gets kicked out is always absurdly OP. It just makes the story incredibly dumb from the get go.

Don't worry, young man, if you accept the shame of getting kicked out of the hero's party, karma will reward you with sexy women and conflicts with zero tension or stakes because you're just so strong and misunderstood and your party members were all doo doo heads anyway.

The only good story with this plot is "getting kicked out of 100 parties" I don't remember the proper name. At least the author uses the meta knowledge to spin something new and relatively unique.
