So is not mine. Just read enough good quality books and you will start seeing the patterns.
I've never tried it myself since while I enjoy writing, I've never published anything in recent times. However, I have seen people give demonstrations of AI's current-tech ability to craft a story, and to be honest, I don't know how it could be selling. Maybe the AI models i witnessed were low-quality, and perhaps the ones others use are much more advanced...but as it is now, AI still isn't skilled enough to write an entire story.
From my experience, it always breaks down after a few thousand words, and sentence structure, grammar quality, and just general creativeness begins nose-diving after around 3k-4k words. AI could probably do small chapters.....but that's about it. It has this habit of turning paragraphs into choppy, one-sentence bars that are so jarring and abruptly ended. I can't really explain it properly.

Thankfully average writer is, well, average. The problem will be when AI reaches levels above that.

I use AI to edit my writing. But the keyword is 'edit' e.g. I'm still creating the story. Furthermore, I use extremely complex prompts to ensure that the style is exactly as I want it. This is the future tbh. 90% of writers will be using AI in at least some capacity in the future.

What counts as "AI-assisted" is using it to alter the text in any way. For example, by using it to enchant the scene or make dialogues "more alive."
A simple grammar check is built into most text editors nowadays, and this is just an automated dictionary.
And a pro tip: if you toss your text into GPT and ask it for a grammar check, it will return it altered, especially if it is longer. GPT tends to poison everything with flowery and unnecessary words, even if directly asked not to.

I wouldn't think so. Your basic word processor gives you a grammar check now so... I personally don't think so, but others might.

Depends on how you use it.
If it is Grammarly or something similar, then sure. That's a helper at most. Glorified dictionary.
But if you toss your story into GPT and tell it to "fix grammar," it will rewrite, cut, add, and mangle the content. This is AI writing.

"Correct the grammar, don't change style and content." And it will do a better job than Grammarly, and faster. Grammarly gives you active choices, which is better for learning, but that's it. I'm not a fan of AI-written books or AI overwork, but we don't need to lie to ourselves, do we? The only annoying stuff are the ehm-slashes, but you can overwork it in 10 minutes yourself.
Edit: Only do it with around 200-250 words at once.

And let's be real here, you don't need AI for grammar fixes. Any proper editor has had built-in grammar checkers for years before anyone even started to think of AI being "real" and not a part of SF.

"It will change it. Always does" It will correct your grammar, as you request, and if your current grammar was wrong, it will correct it. Thats the goal. Grammar checker do the same. Grammarly sometimes suggest to change your sentence structure. Thats how correction works. And like I said in my edit, as long as you do it with smaller parts, there is no problem at all. It will add its damned ehm-slashes here and there, but thats it.

When I was rewriting Vivienne, I knew by reading where the mistakes were. That's why I ended up pulling every paragraph and looking at each one individually. I didn't use any checker, unless you count my two editors. The reward was that I have written a decent book, feel accomplished and even gotten a fair amount of readers.
Give the vast array of information about writing and grammar in the internet, it amazes me that AI is valued more than actuality learning.
