Had this question as I recalled the hero in the 2nd world in Soul of Negary who yelled "this is unfair" after knowing that he is nothing more of a puppet for fate.

So here is my question to you, would you be the designated hero, with no understanding of your situation, be on a life of adventure and stuff and perhaps ending in a happy ending?

I mean, I will.

Who doesn't want their life to be good? No control of my own life but generally moving in a positive manner is good.

Best part might be that I will never know that I am nothing more of a chess piece.

I would. I wouldn’t care. Being a hero would force me to take on more and do more, whether I wanted to or not. Whether I was truly in control or not, I wouldn’t care, because I would appreciate someone directing my life when I am too depressed to be that force of momentum within my life (I mean, if I was just a passenger in my body from my perspective, I wouldn’t appreciate it. But if it was the more overarching destiny bs, then I’d be fine).

As a norma human, to be a Designated Hero, You will suffering a lot.

And its not the bitter Suffering meant for normal human consumption.

Its the type of suffering that would make normal human wish for death, and nobody would blame you.

Its far preferable to suffer terminal cancer where you could simply knows that you're about to peafully die and leave the world without any fatal consequence for the world.

Dont underestimate the burden of agony of the Designated Hero.
