...contact my readers on an individual basis to beg for ratings? Haha!
It would be an excellent way to make me drop your story if I was one of the readers tbh....contact my readers on an individual basis to beg for ratings? Haha!

It would be amazing if you could check out out my work, thanks! It would be pathetic, just like self-promoting in threads that aren't meant for that.

I agree. People don't like feeling they are being hunted down on the internet ?, regardless of any positive or negative intent.I personally have thought about this a lot and have determined that it would be rather creepy and seem desperate. Just ask people publicly for ratings so that you're not scaring away your reader base. At the very least it will help you avoid any trouble that may arise from contacting random people. Also, I like your pfp. I just happened to pick up the Spice and Wolf anniversary omnibus recently and I'm loving it.
Ratings are actually really important. It shows people what others have to say about your work and whether or not they should even give it a try. The more rating you have the more people are going to trust the rating that is given. For example, would you rather trust a story that only has 2 ratings but has 5-stars or a story with over 30 ratings but it has 4-stars? Proper reviews are even more important as they can tell the author where they can improve as well as where they are succeeding. It's part of the reason why I ask for them so much. I want to know where I can improve and what can stay the same. Are ratings even important? I'd probably rate you, but I'd feel apprehensive about you.
I'm not really familiar enough with SH to worry too much about ratings here. I'm trying to get people to rate my story on RR, because I want to hit Rising Stars. It's a huge boost to growth and follower count if you can get on there, that's the reason.Ratings are actually really important. That's understandable. Though I left RR a while ago for various reasons, I did well on there. However, I will never go back.I'm not really familiar enough with SH to worry too much about ratings here. I'm trying to get people to rate my story on RR, because I want to hit Rising Stars. All right, got a lot of interesting comments here, and I've determined that it's a really bad idea to PM readers begging for ratings, lol.
People avoid reading stories with a low rating score or a low number of ratings. When I say people, I mean more than one hundred authors that sit on the SH forum. You know, those who talk about how ratings and a large reader base don't matter. Are ratings even important? I'd probably rate you, but I'd feel apprehensive about you.
I feel like most people would find it weird...contact my readers on an individual basis to beg for ratings? Haha!
