I read a fair share of abuse romance isekai/time reverse/reincarnate novels recently. Since there is no where to vent my frustration, I will make a piss right here.
Why the f does the female protag keep returning to her abusive male lead?
Don’t get me wrong if there is a genuine reason for her to forgive her man, I wouldn’t feel this frustrated. There is literally no good reason.
Female lead is young (child-like young since I don’t remember her age but she looks like a child). The one she loved said he felt annoyed with her affectionate behaviours. He told her straight that he decided to sold her (a child at that time) to a noble for a castle which he commented to her face is a good price and that he should have sold her sooner. The female protag got sold to the abusive noble who physically abused her. She partially lost her ability to speak properly because the noble cut off a portion of her tongue. The female protag still believed the male lead will come back to her. Circumstances change and she became a vagabond then captured gladiator then slave. Her new owner sent her to the male lead (a to-be-king now). He didn’t recognise her. He had his way with her (while she doesn’t want to). Female protag later found out that the male lead regretted selling her so he tracked her down. In his quest, he found the noble’s servant (the only person who cared for her while she was first sold). He tortured the girl to get the info about the female protag. When the girl refused stating that she rather die than letting the male lead find the protag because he is a fucker that doesn’t deserve her. The servant was killed after that. The identity of the protag is later revealed and while she is adamant about not forgiving the male lead. She allowed the male lead a second chance (?!?) What the actual f? The damn male lead’s servant the one who hold prejudice against her insulting her that she played hard to get to attract the male lead’s attention. She kept saying she wants to live her life her way but letting herself used for the sake of the male leads and his kingdom because why? Because the damn mentioned servant said one line of apology and preached about the greater good of the kingdom and that the male lead needs to be mentally healthy to keep the kingdom safe. By the horn of Satan, what the heck? And the female protag agreed with that bullock?
Then there is this female protag who was forced into a Royal engagement since childhood. She was forced to study to be a suitable princess, and she hated studying that much. She literally had no chance of going out to relax and if she showed sign of fatigue her instructors and those around reprimanded her about her responsibilities in the future which she wanted none of it. It was bad enough that she completely lost her child-like innocent smile just after a few months. She managed to survive ten years because she had a sliver of hope. She tried to make the male lead charmed with another girl to annul the engagement. The fucked up thing is her brother is the one who forced her in the marriage in the first place. He did that for what? It was for his family, the kingdom, and the prince. He did none for her and the entire time he acted like he had to make a difficult decision when he was the one that forced her into the corner. When the sibling confronted each other, he didn’t even apologise for forcing the engagement, he is just trying to justify himself. The damn prince knew about her situation but he ignored her suffering because he liked her and wanted her and couldn’t let her go. Is this morally alright? He also knew about her plan to break off the engagement so he tricked her to catch her when she escaped and now she couldn’t go outside without escort. One time she managed to go further, he imprisoned her in a basement room. The fuck is this sh*t? He literally tricked her for 10 years to get her properly studied and became his princess by giving her failed hope, then he had the audacity to play victim and blamed it on love? What more damnable is the entire universe tried to set her up with the prince, not a single person understands her suffering. Every word of sympathy those side characters spouting is nothing more than words through the mouth. What is her response to all of that? She gradually opened up to the prince? This is not a person accepting her fate. It’s the girl being brainwashed into loving her destiny. Those two previous sentences are not my interpretation, it’s literally how she was shown to be in the facking manga. She literally enjoyed her new imprisonment and the love that was shoved into her by the prince. How is that a logical or satisfying development?
Then there are countless other protag that were abused but forgave like those above so the plot can go on.
The fuck is this?
Now you will ask why I am saying all of these. I will tell ya. The reviews below those manga/manhwa/novel are similar to mine that the character development is more crabs than a browny diaper. This means a lot of people understand this. Then why the heck can’t I find a novel that isn’t doing any of those arbitrary development? I am not the only one who realised, so shouldn’t there be at least an author who realised it and wrote a different kind of development? The fuck?
Why can’t there be a novel about a protag who successfully detangled herself from her abusers and escaped. I don’t care if you show us how the abusers regret and sh**. I just want an abused protag to fight/reject/react fiercely against the forking-late reconciliation attempt of her abusers. They turned her life into hell and now when they wanted her back just weakly refused with some words? The fuck? You suffered so long under them. You know them far better. You think they will leave you alone with some harsh words? Why can’t she grab a chair or anything to defend her new found freedom and happiness. Why did she react so tamed in front of her now-regretted abusers? It makes bullshit of senses that she just yells at them. Hell, I will grab a knife and threaten them with death if they don’t back the fuck out of my life. Hell, I will even gut myself if I couldn’t win. The protag reaction is so pitifully normal that it made no sense after the hell she has gone through.
I want some more realistic reaction not some E-rating shit the incompetent authors made. When those authors described her abuse, it was far worse than the E-rating allows but when it comes to her reacting about the abusers returning to her life she had to act sensible? The fuck? Those are the dumbest shit I can have the misfortune of reading. Fucking donkeys!
