Also not you!

There was one person who thought my story was utterly terrible because the main character didn't follow the exact list of feelings and actions they thought an Isekai protagonist should do. My character just freaked out for a moment before getting their bearings, and then immediately headed to the library to figure out wtf was going on.

You should go to the YMCA, or YWCA.
You should give the links or something, as the only thing that sprouts to mind is the 70s song. Also, what's great about their forums?
The main issue is that forums are mostly dead. People switched back to chatting. To such as discord or telegram. Which is sad. I definitely prefer forums. But it's no fun when the forums aren't alive.

It’s not a forum. It’s the place from the song. Lol.

Just block the people you don’t like so you won’t see their posts, or just move on. People here are going to make offensive jokes about you eventually as long a you’re here, and you can’t expect someone to jump in and see your side every time it happens.

It’s not about olive branches or “understanding.” You can only get that if you can gain someone’s respect, and you can’t demand respect first.

Gaining someone’s respect often means you have the ability to disagree with their way of doing things, but not complain or get upset over it, or try to validate that your way or view of the interaction somehow is better.

If we don’t understand you, so be it. Maybe only @SailusGebel right now has the patience to try, but you should probably lurk a bit to get an idea of how people here interact before coming out and insulting the forum in general as toxic.

Forum might not be for you, so find a better place to interact with others, or try to figure out what’s going on.

None of this is about right and wrong by the way. Interaction between humans requires both sides to want the same thing, whether it be banter, offensive and insulting jokes or something else.

The way you’re presenting yourself (and this is my opinion), it feels like I’d have to walk on egg shells so as not to make you upset and most here would not do that.

Granted, I don’t know you personally or even if something is going on in real life that you’re doing this here, but a lot of us come here to shitpost because it helps relieve the stress from some of the crap we deal with in real life. Walking on eggshells isn’t something most of want to or care to do.
I've been in a bunch of other communities and I've never had this kind of problem, I don't think I usually make people feel like they are 'walking on eggshells'.

In most forums, when someone disagrees with me, they will try to make an actual argument explaining why, or at least will not mock the fact that I even dare to have an opinion. Even when someone calls me an idiot they will actually explain why my posts made them think that.

This is the only place I've encountered where I can make a post explaining an opinion as obvious as 'genocide is bad' (which I didn't expect to be so controversial) and immediately get an entire page of insults and mockery from people who didn't even bother to read my post.

And other forums don't have people that insult me behind my back days later or try to find me on the main site and even on Discord.

I really do feel that the problem is this place.

I don't think most people insulted or attacked you. Many people did make jokes. I accept that we have very different ideas about jokes. I now must explain why what I said was a joke. The joke was the absurdity of what I said. First, there is no way that what @greyblob said would be second biggest lie anyone has ever heard. Second, there is no way that anything you have said would be the first biggest lie anyone ever heard, and if you didn't actually say those exact words that just increases the absurdity.

I think I remember being active on the genocide forum. I'm drawing from memory so if I have material facts wrong feel free to pull direct quotes and a link to the thread for clarification. That said:

When someone bitches at me I bitch back. After that, when they chill, I chill.

This is important because you started by raising some rather nasty allegations against the forum as a whole. When you bitch at the entirety of a forum, you bitch at every single user of that forum, jointly and severally.

Not only was I JUST accused of supporting genocide when not only do I NOT, Genocide Is Bad is literally the central thesis of my book. Not only that, but every single user of the forum was tarred with the same brush. And I'm trans, right? I have a very VERY vested interest in having a network of informants to clue me in on who might be a fascist.

People who do like you did, not only destroy the reliability of that network, they end up creating the very genocide-supporters they claim to hate. If someone is called a monster enough times they may as well play the part.

That is why I bitched at you. My next post toward you was an attempt to reach out and describe where our first exchange went to blows and maybe help you make amends and be welcomed.

If this place welcomes ME, it'll welcome damn near anybody.

But you absolutely have to put in the work. People meme on you because they did, you rebuffed them, and they went "welp, moving on"

This is by far the most idiotic unfriendly and toxic community I have ever encountered.
Fair enough.

You are very lucky to have experienced communities better than this one.

Just an aside, I just got really nice memory of the past, when I want to have less of a milk toast, roomtemp personality, and actively tried to get people to call me toxic...

Ah~ memories...

Oh wait, was that you?
:blob_whistle:
Well as I said, no hard feelings, but I'm still going to write main characters who don't behave as expected after getting isekaied :blob_sweat:
Actually, I was way too stubborn. And as a result of my stubborness way too passive agressive at the end. Sorry about that. I will be honest, I still think I'm right, but it was a subjective opinion. I should've sticked with it, calling it subjective instead of trying to force my views on you.

because everything you type is negative. have you sent a single positive message thus far? victim mentality is very cringe. just read the comments you've made here. whining while everyone consoles you. it's paathetic.

extend an olive branch by accepting you were being a whiny kid, laugihing if off, and moving on.
I want to add on these great arguments.

Back in my school day, when we do cringe stuff we got our behavior corrected through sheer peer pressure. You talk funny? bully. Walk in the wrong way? bully. Act weird? that's right, a punch in the face.
Is this bad? yes, but it did great on personal development, especially in the aspect of emotional quotient. It taught me respect, manners, and how society works.

Nowadays victim mentality is like a disease, people got too comfortable being butt-aperture online that they don't get punched in the face as the consequences of their action. I'm not saying that you can't joke around in online forums, heck, I shitpost left and right, but I expect karma is in the work. I would accept whatever treatment I do to people if people do that to me. Laugh it off and move on, be a chad instead of a cringe person. Life is too short for you to care about opinion you wouldn't' get advice from.

Also, I want to add another point. If you think someone has shit behavior, then you can assume your opinion is correct. However, when everyone think you're shit, don't you think it's time to think about your behavior?

Anyway, I think SHF best forum. Can shitpost freely and only a few amount of bad apples. (can confirm since I've been lurking on this site for a long while)

Hey, don't worry about it, I definitely forgive you! But what you said did give me a perspective of what some people expect out of a fresh isekai protagonist, and I might put that into practice soon enough.

I made a thread complaining about a bad trend of novels that essentially glorify genocide. I don't know the motives for why people write that, I assume that it is edginess and/or not caring at all about what they write, but I certainly not accusing the entire forum of that.

After getting a lot of bullshit, what I accused the forum of was not caring about writing, which would result in more crap like the one I was complaining about.

And while not quite being genocide, and not the entire forum, you have someone in this very thread unironically supporting school bullying. I would be lying if I said I'm surprised.
People who do like you did, not only destroy the reliability of that network, they end up creating the very genocide-supporters they claim to hate. If someone is called a monster enough times they may as well play the part.
The irony of this is painful. Have you seen the crap that the users of this forum are constantly saying about me?

That is why I bitched at you. My next post toward you was an attempt to reach out and describe where our first exchange went to blows and maybe help you make amends and be welcomed.
I don't know how true that is, it's difficult to see attempts to reach out when I'm getting dozens of replies, and most of them are insults.

But you absolutely have to put in the work. People meme on you because they did, you rebuffed them, and they went "welp, moving on"
There was no "moving on", people continued to crap on me endlessly for a full weekend, and then even later on in other threads.

Oh, you mean the post where Sola-sama said bullying is bad, but helps with social development. That's not really supporting it, it's acknowledging why people get victim mentalities.

@forli
So you dislike SHF.
May I ask why you are spending your time here, instead of all the other forums you enjoy more?
