When Life is Stranger than Fiction

After mentioning my 3 MiLs on someone's profile, I kind of realized there are parts of my life that are stranger than fiction.

Here are some strange things from my life that are a little weird.

• The three mother-in-laws. This means, yes, I have three fathers-in-law as well. This also means I have several half-brothers-in-law and 1 half-sister-in-law as well as an adopted-brother-in-law.
• I can hear the electronic buzzing of old CRT monitors and televisions. It's even weirder as I'm partially deaf.
• I have 2 years on my spouse. His adopted mom also has 2 years on his adopted dad. And my mom also has 2 years on my dad. Apparently, it's a new tradition.
• My maternal great-grandparents did their version of the Hades-Persephone myth and were one of the last cases of Bride Kidnapping in my old community.
• I accidentally named my oldest child "Green Green". Her names are different words but are shades of green.
• I'm named after my grandfather, meaning my real name is technically John. It's just the English phonetic version of the female version of John in a different language.
• I'm descended from a Scottish Lord (by about 12 generations) but my family was also part of the Highland Clearances.

So what are some parts of your life that are so strange that they seem too weird for even fiction stories?

Too long to describe who he is to me, so I will simply call him my relative. Also heard this story long ago, so I don't remember minute details. Only the gist of it. During WW2 he and other people were caught by German soldiers. Those soldiers put them in a truck and were taking them somewhere but the truck broke down. While they were fiddling with it my relative simply jumped out of the truck and ran away. He was the only one to do it, or so he said. ?‍

I don't know if it fits, but I think it's plenty strange.

My birthday is exactly 6 months after my mums, and my sisters is exactly 6 months before my dads.

Was in training at this time at the ER several years back. This was around October, so Halloween time. In the afternoon, there was a family that came in with a child in a costume. Apparently the kid fell at a party and they wanted them checked out.
While we were doing that, another family came in with a costumed kid. Kid also fell. Weird thing; the two families knew each other and came from the same party.
It would've been an interesting coincidence on its own, but then ANOTHER family came in, with another kid. Before we even got to knowing what happened, the first family's dad looked at this third family and asked "You guys too?". Yep, it was the same problem: kid fell at the party.
Thankfully no more families came with the same problem. Still, that got us wondering what the heck was happening at that kids party.

Your second bulletpoint is called tinnitus! I happen to have it as well. Not exactly deaf, but working around lound noises without hearing protection really did not help.

And for your question... the most interesting thing I can think of is that I've met many different pure ethnic people, like pure Russians, pure Mexicans and even a pure German before, in places where you'd never expect them. Like, out of all the places you could've chosen on America, you chose a small mining town in the middle of nowhere?

Your second bulletpoint is called tinnitus

I believe @l8rose meant hearing the high frequency buzzing from electronics, not tinnitus. The noise is from electrical components vibrating (which is generally at or above the highest pitch a human can hear), while tinnitus is a medical thingo.

I went locally viral because someone took a video of me fighting a kid in a lunchroom during high school (which I won). But since I live in a different state now, it doesn't really matter.

Fantasy have to appeal to our imagination and our limited belief of whats possible and not possible.

Real life do not have to appeal to our limited imagination and limited knowledge, as long its physically possible in the real world it can happen.

Not getting accepted into the Bundeswehr because of my "bad" eyes... Imagine acing the KAT, passing the physical and psychological evaluations, securing a position - only to have it taken away one month before the start after another examination.

Man, that felt like a fever dream.

But… they’re still searching for recruits.

One of the kids that was always acting like a clown in collège was choking on food at the cafeteria. Everybody thought he was clowning once again, so nobody went to help him, they just laughed. In desperation, he threw himself on the corner of a table to do the Heimlich move. He ended up saving himself (but breaking two ribs).

Passing the physical evaluations only to get down because of something physical

The "first" doctor is not a specialist. I was referred but didn’t get an appointment for ages. During the recruitment test, I was reassured that it wouldn’t be a problem, and I had already been assigned to my position. I waited three months for an appointment and eventually had to see a specialist in the armed forces, which is normally not available to civilians. It was then discovered that the first doctor fucked up.

So yeah, you can pass without "passing"

It's more like my life is full of cliche stereotypes. I married my elementary school bully, for example, who happened to be my next door neighbor. Also we were on the high school swim team together and we nearly almost got into a hormonal physical relationship together when our families both took a trip to china together the summer after senior year and we held hands the entire time but we neither of us had the courage to say anything because we were moving apart and I was too fixated on the idea that my neighbor would find someone better than me in college, then I was sad for a few years and a lot of stuff happened and things kind of got really messed up but in either case eventually both of us got married like 10 years later and now we have a baby but we're still both a little dysfunctional but it's probably okay (probably).
