I'm ready to post my next work! My first one was a throw in the water to see what I can do, but this next one I really quite like and want to do good, so I want to make sure I do it how I should. So, how many chapters should I release to start? My prologue is almost 2k, my chapters average around 6-7k, and there are 13 chapters. What do you think?
Well, as you know, to be "succesuful" you need exposition.
You will have only 3 sources to make your story visible.
1) the new story page.
2) the recently updated.
3) This forums.
Now since you only have 13 chapters if you publish too many of them you will cut yourself short. My advices:
1) The first day only publish on chapter. Check the new stories to see if you still visible in front. If not anymore post 3-4 chapters the next 2-3 days, for example i generaly post after my story has gone to the second page in updates. But you can wait till you are in the 4-5 page.
2) cut your chapters in parts. 6-7k is too long, they say the sweet spot is between 1500-2500 words, but you can cut them in half for example. Also that will help you have a few more chapter to publish and keep yourself visible a bit more.
The hard part about writing is promoting, gaining visibility and hooking up the readers. Anyone can write.
That is just my opinion, I am just trying like you are. Not a success by any measure.
