I'm ready to post my next work! My first one was a throw in the water to see what I can do, but this next one I really quite like and want to do good, so I want to make sure I do it how I should. So, how many chapters should I release to start? My prologue is almost 2k, my chapters average around 6-7k, and there are 13 chapters. What do you think?

First of all, what are you defining as 'good'?
Is it reader count?
Money?

To determine whether you're doing good, you have to state your goals.

6/7k may be too long for most reader here. ALso, release your chapter one or two per day at the beginning with some hours between each.

Well, as you know, to be "succesuful" you need exposition.
You will have only 3 sources to make your story visible.
1) the new story page.
2) the recently updated.
3) This forums.

Now since you only have 13 chapters if you publish too many of them you will cut yourself short. My advices:
1) The first day only publish on chapter. Check the new stories to see if you still visible in front. If not anymore post 3-4 chapters the next 2-3 days, for example i generaly post after my story has gone to the second page in updates. But you can wait till you are in the 4-5 page.
2) cut your chapters in parts. 6-7k is too long, they say the sweet spot is between 1500-2500 words, but you can cut them in half for example. Also that will help you have a few more chapter to publish and keep yourself visible a bit more.

The hard part about writing is promoting, gaining visibility and hooking up the readers. Anyone can write.
That is just my opinion, I am just trying like you are. Not a success by any measure.

Okay, then look at when the more popular novels update, check trends of update patterns of the stories to maximize front page time. Take advantage of launch time for front page as well.

After that, make sure you are consistent in updates so that readers know when to go and read, a lot of them coming to read at the same time during an update will give it more chances for front page.

You can also post on multiple sites.

Also... make sure your novel is actually good.

Ah my issue here is the difficulty in splitting these up. The mc and ml are traveling together covering 12 weeks, so each chapter is a week of time. I guess I could split each week in half, but I've never thought about it. Thank you for the idea

The common thing to do on SHF is gaslight you into thinking you are wrong about wanting more readers. And laugh at anyone that give you actually helpful advice to achieve your goals.

Well weeks have what I call bad, worse and thank god.
Monday is bad, Tuesday and wednesday are worse (except for wednesday adams... everyone like sexy weird goths), thursday and after is: Thanks god.
So break them by days or half weeks.

sound advice, I am everywhere: Inkspired, inkitt, tapas, fictograma (spanish), webnovel, nightscribe (only horror), still not many readers... There is also royal road, but I dont like their attitude towards some stuff so screw them.

It was, but you have to undersatn that to you it's funny, to me it's frustrating. Authors attempts at getting some advice or help here is usually met with strong resistance.

Don't do "the common thing" do "your own thing."

Now, in general, the best bet is to post five to ten chapters spread out over the first two days, and then release later chapters at a steady pace - whatever you know you can maintain.
