The boring way would be to give it to professionals who know how to dispose of the methanol.

The cool way is to poor it on the ground and burn it.

The cruel way (which I recommend) is to dump it into the sewer and make it another person's problem

And do what I do. I take whatever I wish to get rid of, go for a drive. Stop on the side of the highway at night. Leave it there.

Put it in a hot enclosed room with a candle. Absolutely nothing can go wrong :D

Most fire departments are also the first responders for chemical spills (turns out similar equipment works well for dealing with fires and unknown substances). Because they already deal with such things, many will often have scheduled drop-off hours listed on their websites for chemical disposal (although this varies from department to department).

Well it's only hazardous if ingested or boiled.

Pretty sure it's always hazardous on disposal, e.g., there's no safe way to do it.
