Multiplayer, Bullet Hell, Side-scroller, VR, Isometric, FPS, Platformer, Racing, Card Game, Stealth, Rogue-like, Satire.

Uh... I think that's it for the list I actively avoid. I also tend to avoid anything done in certain graphic styles but those don't really have a tag (things like Minecraft's block style for example). Most of those is because I hate playing that kind of thing on the PC and the rest is because every get-rich-quick game had a few of those labels for a few years and they've lost all meaning (like Stealth and Rogue-like).

I will play games from those tags but I've either heavily researched them first or I'm playing them with someone (like Aska for multiplayer).

I'll add soulslikes too. The Dark Souls trilogy and Bloodborne are some of my all time favorite games (not Elden Ring, though). I'll play through at least two of them every year. And that's probably why I hate almost every game that's tried to copy them. FromSoft got the formula down to a science in a way that no other dev team has been able to replicate. Everything works together in nearly perfect harmony, so while other games like Nioh, The Surge, Mortal Shell, Code Vein, Lies of P, and Final Fantasy Origins: Stranger to Paradise may have been fine if they were judged entirely by their own merits, having to compare them to Dark Souls makes them feel like cheap, janky imitations.

What combination of tags makes you less inclined to play a game?

I only play open world if it's a survival sandbox.
Have you played any of the following?
Terraria, Core keeper, Subnautica, Deep rock galactic and don't starve?
And Minecraft (but that's an obvious one)

Yes, no, yes, no, yes. In order. Though I'm more for Starbase, Space Engineers 1&2, Vintage Story, Rimworld, Medieval Engineers, Medieval Dynasty and the like.

You sir have my respect, Terraria, Subnautica, and Deep Rock Galactic are my most played games in that order, I recommend Core Keeper if you ever have the time it's pretty good.

I'm not picky on game genres but I hate games that shove irl politics in my face unless it's shitpost game. There's no reason to play it if I'm not a streamer/content creator playing it for views.

I think what’s worse than the $70 price tag, is how absurd micros have become. People really have accepted to have less, when back then. You got the whole package.

I think Arise was the worse offender, well. Not worst, but definitely up there. With them locking skills behind the shop.

Honestly, it is better to play mid level publishers to indies. They are both affordable, and usually not crazy with their DLC.
FR! When my cousin used to buy PS1-PS2 game, along with it, he got the WHOLE bundles OF GOLD, COLLECTORS' AND DIRECTOR'S CUT EDITION. HE EVEN GOT SOME ART-BOOKS AS WELL AS KEY CHAINS AND FIGURINES!! Now we just get the CD and that's it! Because of this, he no longer buys the physical copy because it's basically the same thing as buying it via online.

When I get my computer back up and running I shall. I recently moved and decided to take the time to upgrade slightly

I don’t blame them, I think nowadays too. The ‘physical copy’ can just come with a pass for a redeem code.

Live service ?

I want an actual complete package, not a drip feed of content.

Ah yeah, live service. These are also very predatory. To make things worse, gameplay and story are typically so-so at best.

To top it off, you’re paying money into an incomplete product.

I’m pretty sure you’re seeing all the red flags here. What’s worse though, is how this has become accepted.

It honestly baffles me how people can just accept having less like this, when as I mentioned. We used to get the full thing around 15 years ago.

Since when did it all had to be centred around money? This will lose them so much respect and interest within the gaming community. Heck! I could play Uncharted 5 all day and wouldn't get bored if it weren't for the price tag!

It goes beyond that. Before, gaming was a hobby by gamers. It was pretty niche, but as it grew, it expanded.

Which is a good thing. However, when you expand. You always look at money when running a business.

And what did they find?

Well, they found that there are far more people just willing to buy up anything. Eventually, they saw they can get away with a lot of bad decisions.

This led to them scaling things down more and more. While the original gamers clearly see how malicious this is, the new ones either don’t care, or are blind to it.

As a result, this affects the market. They make far more off of them, than the people who see it for the absurdity it is.

It is why we barely get any actual creative stuff nowadays.

It is why you see so many remasters, remakes, sequels, etc. It is why you see games look so close to each other nowadays, and play so close to each other.

It wasn’t the gaming community that made it like this, it is just the vast amount that buys any crap they see, and defend corporations.

I mean seriously, why defend corporations? They don’t give a damn about you.

Under no circumstances am I defending those corporates, I just merely mentioned how much this could make the gaming community lose interest and respect the games to the point that they wouldn't play their games. That's why I mentioned that I could play uncharted for a whole day if it weren't for the price tag. I apologise for my previous statements which meant no harm to the community. I should have written it properly rather than letting my frustration get my nerves. Furthermore, I respect the creators' hard work, and it felt wrong for me that their masterpiece fell prey to these corporates hands.
For context, my cousin quoted which added more fuel to the fire : -
In the future, due to the high inflations, not many people will be keened on buying the video games. It will be as high as our grocery lists.

I don't know how to press keys while moving the mouse, it's too many things and my brain won't compute. So anything action related, or that demands a lot of quick thinking are immediately a no go. But I like simulation games where you can press pause, like the Sims or Spellcaster University. Visual novels too, like Aviary Attorney, Cinderella Phenomenon, or the Ace Attorney saga. Professor Layton is also a good pick, I have a lot of those games on my DS
