I once received an invitation from a dark fantasy group there to "support each other" against the dominance of the LitRPG genre. But I declined, or rather, I didn't respond. It may be common there, but I have no intention of getting involved in drama just to attract readers. I prefer to focus on my content and see what I can improve in my narrative.

eldoria? you could still work on your narration-calculus and improve it exactly the same... this would just be doing it with a few extra readers to see your improvements. It doesn't *cost* you readers, and if you don't gain any readers from them shouting you? Nothing lost. And any readers you *gain* is simply a free bonus.

I'm failing to see, at least in this shouting arrangement, where the "drama" or down side is. I mean, you didn't take it as a compliment that they thought you were enough of a writer that you could benefit them?

I'm not forbidding you from review swaps, promotions, or anything like that. You're free to promote your work as long as it's within the rules. But I have different priorities.

I would only do that stuff on RR, where its necessary to try to level the playing field. not here.

Fyi, they use this site https://finitevoid.dev/shoutout usually to format the shoutout

Usually authors will send eachother their "code", which each will put at the end of their respective chapters.

The more people you swap with, the more reach your story has. Literally no down side.

Also it can be an investment. If your story somehow blows up, then they'll benefit too.
