In 1981, Gregorios Sachinidis, a taxi driver from Thessaloniki, Greece, purchased a used 1976 Mercedes-Benz 240D from Germany. The car already had about 220,000 kilometers (approximately 136,700 miles) on the odometer.

For the next 23 years, he used the Mercedes as his taxi, driving it around the clock. His work wasn’t limited to the streets of Thessaloniki; he undertook countless long-distance journeys across Greece and into surrounding countries like Germany, Turkey, and Bulgaria. He even transported humanitarian aid to war-torn Yugoslavia in 1993.

By the time he retired the car in 2004, it had accumulated a staggering 4.6 million kilometers (about 2.85 million miles). This feat earned his car the distinction of being the Mercedes-Benz with the highest recorded mileage to date. To put that in perspective, 4.6 million kilometers is the equivalent of driving around the world 115 times.

Screw BMW, here's your ultimate driving machine. I wonder why Top Gear never mentioned this!

I learned that Prior to Japan's surrender in WWII the emperor had never spoken on the radio. So for most of japan, that was their first time hearing his voice.

Canonically, Obi-Wan thinks the Sith don't need to use lightsabers to fight; Sith only use lightsabers to mock the Jedi and flex.

TIL that a person can hire a PR agency to run a psy-op to deliberately smear the character of an actress, but that's not the interesting part. The cost is around $30,000 per month USD.

Originally, it was less than that; it was 25k per month, but when things got harder, the agency jacked up the price, because across Reddit, X, Discord, TikTok, and Instagram, there were too many Taylor Swift fans for the PR agency to manipulate, so the cost went up, and 30k was where it landed.

And it's a contract for 3 months. So 90k is the price of character assassination. Not completely, tho, just a bit of assassination.

That being said, I also read about Southeast Asia's commercialisation of fake news and disinformation, for people to hire organisations in these places to churn out propaganda for them on a whole different scale is both scary and fascinating.

TIL 入关之后自有大儒替你辩经 (MTL: After entering the pass, there will be great scholars to debate for you), this chinese idiom is a recent internet lingo, not what I thought to be old wise words.

It means that once the nation or the person is strong, there will be folks flocking to explain recognize and even defend his actions.

Likewise, if they are weak, good game well played.

It runs parallel with "a truth from a pauper is worth less than a lie from a prince"

Lol, Mary Shelley wrote that her husband went on boat ride 9 times in a period of 3 weeks.

He can't swimming but just loves fucking boat rides in big bodies of water.
