i swear there is a random element because there is one right now with 1.3k views and like 40 readers on trending...
It's not the total views.

If it was it, there would be the very static list.

The view gain in last 24 hours makes more logical sense. That wouldn't rule out any story, big or small, since only gain in 24 hours would matter.

Trending seems to operate based on how many views/comments/favorites you got yesterday vs the day before. So if you release a chapter and suddenly get like 10 times the amount of engagement you had the previous day, it's really easy to get trending. If your novel is really popular though, it becomes almost impossible to hit trending, since you'll always be having engagement, even on days you don't release a chapter.

it must be something like that because i got like 300 or so readers after just two weeks after basically just spewing my backlog of about 2 years work... no real engagement, just reading. well my book is meant to be read one handed, so comments are hard so there is that.

As someone who has it hit, more times then they would've liked.

Mine is certainly from comments explosions. I do love replying to them, but hitting trending means so many eyes!
