I've appeared on the front page of treading like one time with my novel Spectacular World. Don't know how, don't know why, and it has not happened again, but it was glorious.

It's a 4 outta 10 at best lolz.
...and I've seen 0/10s on trending.
(Very subjective statement...)

Your novel is entertaining. I love gay and quite enjoy superheroes done like you have although I haven't read it in over a year now- I need to binge it and get caught back up

What determines how you get onto trending? Is it comments? Views? Ratings? Favorites?
The trending stories are always one that experienced the sudden surge of activity in roughly the last 24 hours.

The overall rating doesn't have any significant effect on it, as occasionally even the stories with "bad" rating could shoot up the list.

Followers / readers could be the factor, especially the "reading" or "plan to read" could be accounted for.

We ultimately don't know because the site keeps it secret to avoid people gaming it, but we could rule out certain factors like comments.

It, however, works differently than the Royal Road's trending.

The Royal Road's trending is the hidden list, based on growth (in number of followers). If you steadily grow the number of followers, and update slowly, let's say one per a week, you will be stuck in their trending list, which is mutually exclusive from the Rising Stars. It's one of the most static list on that site.

We could verify it isn't the case, any story could enter the Scribble Hub's trending in any time if it caught enough interest.

i do think comments has something to with it, because I once had a guy do a tftc on all my chapters [240 chapter]and I was on trending once.

I doubt it.
However, it is possible that the commenting did enough to account for the unique views.
There must be something to fend off the bots, and I suppose staying on the game long enough to read it and comment on it does the thing.

I'm pretty sure, as others have said, it's all about sudden bursts of activity vs the traffic your story has recently had.

I released a freaking announcement on one of my older fictions, letting them know that I was doing a small re-write before the next volume and made it into trending spot 3 with like, ten or so 'likes' from my readers.

Totally baffled when I saw it...
