Two Types of Villains

There are an infinite number of ways to write a villain, but I think most (if not all) of them can be summed up with these two pictures:

Second kind is way better, imo. The first seems cool and edgy, but then you realize it's just a trap for pseudo-intellectual blowhards.

The second is more likeable.

The first is an example of an anti-villain: someone who considers themselves a hero, even though they contradict universal morals.

The second is an example of a classic villain: someone who is evil for the sake of being evil.

I guess...
I prefer the earlier versions of Thanos though - the one who claims he saw the Face of Death, and she was the most beautiful and desirable creature in existence. He decided to get her attention, he had to murder half of the universe...
Which kind of sticks him solidly in BOTH models...
