Well, I created this thread because I keep on getting messages on how to add images on a chapter. So yeah, I'm putting this up. Anyone who'd ask can freely check out this thread so that they would know how to put in their beautiful illustrations to accompany their stories. Or if someone asked about this on a thread, you can link this on your reply.

Alright, so without further ado, let's start.

1) First of all, you have to create an account in an image hosting site like imgur. For this tutorial, I'll be using my account in imgur, since I'm already used to it. For those who'd ask, creating an account in imgur is free, but I'm told it's not that secure if you plan to upload your original image...so it's a risk. Upload your image there first before formatting your chapter, so that it's smooth-sailing from here.

Take note: You cannot upload your image straight from your device, for SH asks for the URL of your image in the chapter formatting section, rather than the file itself.

2) Select the image you wanted to insert. For this example, I chose this close-up of Kuro's face. Copy the direct link.

3) Go to your story and edit it. For this example, I chose one of my extra chapters to edit, just to show you how it works. I clicked my cursor on that part below the line, "Oh sh*t!" because that's where I'd like my image to appear.

4) Then, hit Ctrl+V (Paste). The image should appear to indicate that you're successful in your attempt to insert the image.

Alternately, you may also use the 'Insert/Edit Image' function in the formatting bar just right above the chapter editor.

Tip: You may format the position and the size of your image directly from the chapter editor. For positioning, just click the image, and then hit the 'Align _____' function in the formatting bar. You can choose to align on the left, center or right side of the chapter, by the way. In this example, I chose to align the image on the center.

As for resizing the image, you can click on the image and look for those small white squares at the corners. Hover your mouse over one of those, and when the icon changes, drag it to resize the illustration. Take care of resizing, as it would affect the appearance of the image on the computer and phone, and it can get ugly if you're not careful.

Here's the slightly bigger version of the image I inserted.

5) Once you are satisfied with your image, click 'Update' to save your formatting. Then hit 'Preview' to check if it looks good, before releasing your chapter.

So that's how you add the images in a chapter.

Further tips!

You can create combinations with tags to further give your chapter that 'dramatic' feel. For example, in one of my chapters, I used the 'Spoiler' tag and inserted the image so that it won't be too distracting to the reader.

This is my Vol. 3 Prologue Chapter...

How to do it? Well, just follow steps 1-4 of the tutorial above, and before you save, click on the image, and hit 'Spoiler' on the formatting bar. Update it, and then Preview.

My technique for images without any hosting sites is using private Discord conversation with just you in it. After you create a group DM, you can paste your images there and they are hard-linked. Then you just right-click on an image and select "Copy Link". It will work like any other image link from any hosting site.

Instead of imgur a private server in discord for dumping images would be an alternative :blob_evil_two:

It’s free and you can hide it from other people.

Being unable to do it makes sense. Images take a lot of space and Tony probably doesn't want the strain on Scribbly's servers of having all images directly hosted here. It's easier if they're hosted in a 3rd party and just hotlinked here.

Not to mention it could become messy if someone uploaded an image they didn't own the rights to... Well, people do that for covers all the time though, so maybe not.
