I'm winning currently by writing this:
Everyone who dabbles in rhetoric wants to look righteous, noble, and especially "right". They'd do anything to reach that goal, of looking like saints, benevolent rulers, and philosopher kings. However, the more they try to reach that goal, the more ethos, or trust is lost. Why? Because there's a ceiling based entirely on the context of the situation, and the more you try to insert how virtuous you are into the rhetorical situation, the less you look trustworthy. I'm calling it "narcissist's irony", which you already know as hypocrisy or other word, but this can happen even when you have no dirt at all. Remember, all dirt can be manufactured, even if it's so flimsy that it evaporates with a single "no".

00:00:03 [Ambient static rises]
…testing… if this thing still—

[sharp distortion]
okay. Okay.
I can hear myself. That’s… good. I think.

00:00:17
If someone finds this…
I need you to understand I wasn’t always—
[breathing accelerates]
—I wasn’t always thinking like this. Things made sense. Lines were straight. Time used to
flow straight.

00:00:46
The tunnels—they’re not the same shape when
I look back.
Walls
shift.
I keep marking them, but the marks move.
Or
maybe I do.
I don’t know.
I don’t know.

00:01:12
There’s a humming behind my eyes.
Not in the air.
Behind my eyes.
Like
something is pacing inside my skull.

00:01:49
I saw… footprints today.
Small. Human.

Mine?
No
there were too many turns.
Too many directions at once.
I can’t walk in more than one direction at a time—
right?

RIGHT?

00:02:08 [Audio flutters, low groan in background]

00:02:34
The air tastes stale. Like someone exhaled decades ago and it never dissipated.

I think I’m inhaling other people’s fears.
I think they’re
inhaling mine back.

00:03:02
Something whispered my name.
Not the
name I remember.
The one I forgot I had.
The one I’m trying not to—

00:03:10 [LOUD distortion]
—NO.
No no no it’s not mine anymore.
That name
died with the others.

00:03:46
I found a message scratched into the stone.
TURN BACK
I… I don’t remember writing it.
But
I recognized the handwriting.
It was mine.
Older.
Or younger.
Or…
different.

00:04:12 [Soft scraping noises, like nails on stone]

00:04:29
If the walls are listening, let them.
If something is following, let it catch up.
I’m too tired to run from...
what was I running from?

00:04:58
Light ahead.
Or a trick.
Or a mouth.

00:05:11
Ending log.
If anyone hears this—

don’t come looking.
