Umm... last I heard (though there was supposedly a way to disable it), Canva actually uses AI to make even text-based images...

It's still not the same as generating an image. You are the one picking font and stuff and coloring a background. You could do the same with any program. Let's not pretend it's the same, m'kay.

If you can do the same with any program, why bother with Canva?
I have some covers made from "found" art - royalty free graphics found online and assembled into montages. Seem to work well enough.
Then again, the stuff on Pocket FM has covers generated by their AI (and it took a lot of bickering back and forth to get them to have ones that reflected the story on one of those two) ...

Canva is free to use browser app that has nice snapping rulers to center typography or images. eyeballing to center a title is hard without training. Just don’t use canva “stock photos” they could be Ai generated.

Microsoft doesn't rely on AI - yet (heck they're behind the curve on this... talked to a guy they fired because his team was beaten to market by ChatGPT last year - he's now using AI, with a small team of people, to make movies...

Microsoft doesn't rely on AI - yet (heck they're behind the curve on this... talked to a guy they fired because his team was beaten to market by ChatGPT last year - he's now using AI, with a small team of people, to make movies...

But this whole conversation is based on something that you know isn't true. You are just pretending that generating an image and making a cover on Canva are the same for some reason when the Canva user still inputs all of the text and font themselves.

I’ve been back here since 2022 for almost a month, and I’ve seen things. Things im not a fan of. This is one of them.

Yall are not detectives, no you can’t tell sometimes, and that’s ok! But to not only call somebody out on it based on vibes but to be so bold and rude about it, it’s gross and turns any new writer from this place. I was back ONE day and I, the person who got a degree in communications with a certificate in creative writing, got accused.

“Oh but the AI writes like this and you also write like this” yes, the AI mimics humans, that kinda how it works. So yes, somebody with a cleaner prose is gonna share similarities with a bot designed to have a cleaner prose. Vibes argument.

And let’s not talk about those who try to call others out with AI writing having the environmentally damaging AI art in their banner. This isn’t Salem. Stop randomly witch-hunting.

I was going to mention how authors are hypocrites also, using AI for covers while lamenting that AI invaded the author space. I understand that some people cannot afford to commission a cover, but it takes like 20 seconds to put words on a page using canva. And guess what? I was able to get like 500 readers with just words on a page as a cover before I commissioned one.

Meh, I don’t have much of an opinion. AI is just going to get better and people trying fruitlessly to fight it will eventually fail with many caught in the crossfire to suffer the brunt of the heat. In the end the only ones getting hurts will be the ones who where mining there own business and trying to write or draw.

They didn't go to a school for writing

This is something happened to me today. Someone raided our server, accused me of AI, more people in a few minutes joined and said that they were simply curious and said he was correct.

However, we got screenshots of their personal chats and this is what jobless witch hunters look like: (the bottom image is a screenshot my friend asked me to give to nullify the accusations)

As you can see, "THIS ISN’T IN THE FIC" & "THEY'LL KNOW", this was done due to personal vendetta, racism and oddly enough, sexism. They hated gender bender and didn’t like that in my fic, Reinhardt lost to Satella(Baru).
