Entirely depends what fantasy world you're dropped in. If it was something like Warhammer, you'd want a insta-death-kill-everything-i-say-it-does skill. If it was one of those lighthearted peaceful worlds JP novel protagonists seem to find themselves in most of the time you'd take a skill that'd help supplement what you plan to do there, like farming.

Yeah Warhammer is like a nightmare dungeon....no one would want to be dropped there if there was a chance...

To survive? Regeneration like deadpool. Or at least general survival skills like foraging or whatever is needed there.

Perhaps spells that help you remember the good times? Before the ashen flats and spiral skies. Before the lord of Keys took his revenge. So illusions have multiple purposes, in my opinion. Fool your enemies! Cover up the window with an image of a pleasant meadow with frolicking sheep, and not the eternal hellscape where people's faces are peeled off and baked to make shells for Taco Tuesday. Don't worry. They grow back.
The shells, not your face.
Do NOT eat the tacos.

Or am I taking "cruel fantasy world" a little too far?

"ZA WARUDO!" (Basically it's a time stop)
Mmh this is too op
Something to detect or create water and food, poison detection, and the ability to deter or avoid predators should be enough for a start.
A good combination especially the poison detection... don't want to die because you drunk some goblin wine

1. Regeneration.
2. Analysis or Appraisal
3. Swordsmanship for self-defense
4. Maybe immunity to poison?
5. If it's a world full of dangers, adding some skill like sixth sense or future vision will be useful to avoid dangers.
You can also add much more like luck related skills, blessing related skills to have an easy time lol. It's all about how hard the fantasy world is. If its jp novel worlds, you won't die that easily lol. You can make a living with any one of the above skills. But if you ends up in a very hard world with full of dangers, you might not fare well even with all the five skills.

I stand by the best multipurpose spell is illusion. Otherwise, Elemental Water Control. Steam blasts. Ice bolts. Bolts of Ice-7 that explode at sea level pressure. Make the water out of O-24 and H-4 Isotopes for an extra 38% mass per bolt. Make it out of 15% O-26 isotope so it decays instantly into fluoride becoming a solution of Hydrofuloric Acid, a bone seeker that turns your bone marrow into sludge. Make it out of O-16 isotope and watch it decay into positrons. That's right, you can make Antimatter with the humble Create water spell if you know what you are doing.

Oh, and you can drink it.

And maybe a defense skill or a body as tough as dragons.... people forget the human body is fragile

If I had to choose just one power? Control/manipulation of toxic substances and disease. Purify food and drink, make alcoholic beverages with some practice, and it has combat applications. Plant manipulation is a close second.
I’d slather on dozens of powers if it was me personally getting isekaied and I had a choice in the matter, but control of the poison “element” is probably what would be most interesting to read/write about in this context.

Unrelated note I think most people overestimate the deadliness of the warhammer setting. Especially if we are talking Warhammer Fantasy. We focus on the worst parts of the world because they are the most interesting, but there are normal people living relatively normal lives all over the place in the empire. Outside of like… the end times, which is apocalyptic, or living in Sylvania, most people can go their whole lives with only the occasional brush with supernatural murderdeathkill, if that.
Warhammer isn’t my first choice, but if I had to choose between Warhammer and Worm, for example? There would be a white board with pros and cons.

Being very tall, with a long neck and a big long tail. Wings that let me soar, scales that cover me. Claws and jaws that make me fearsome, and Horns that show my authority.
Oh, and magic breath.

I would say a simple spell a magic barrier, the dome or square kind simple, practical and can be very useful, in combat and simple survival situations creating a protective dome while you rest, or a square platform to step on in a fight all it needs is a ittle imagination, hell it can even be a weapon if the spin the barrier like a saw.
