It's a term used in roleplay settings so that other players can't control what happens to another player's character/s without their permission.That's a good way of phrasing it, i suppose?

An example would be if someone says a bolt of lightning struck another person's character, causing them to burn to a crisp and die or be severely injured, then claim it was nature that did it - all while the owner of that character didn't agree with what just happened.
That would be god-modding, since they've basically controlled what has happened to another person's character without permission.
So, if you're not happy with how people are treating your character, and don't want others to do so without permission/discussing first, maybe put in your character info that you don't want to be god-modded.

I've just seen people have their characters god-modded in the past and it hasn't ended well.
